Still going strong after 5 years of use on the original battery. Highly Recommended. These have been a brilliant idea from the start but suffered from short life of the old nickel-cadmium batteries back in the 80s when they were a new idea. Now that they have Li-ion batteries they are genuinely living their potential. Which is to say that this is to me one of the major modern conveniences after the major appliances. I wouldn’t set up house without one. We mounted in kitchen where it’s handy for small spills (not liquids mind you) around the apartment and spot vacuuming when we don’t want to drag out the big vacuum. I’d say it gets used several times a week, often for less than a minute. We used to rely on a small dustpan/brush combo that hangs on the wall nearby for little messes, but that now sits unused as does the full size broom for the most part. This vacuum is just SO much more convenient. The key for me is the one-handed grab and go nature of the design. Sometimes I use it for a bigger job that lasts about 5 minutes or more. By that point you can hear a slight reduction in motor speed but still strong suction. Yes you have to be a little aware of where the exhaust air is pointed but it’s not usually a problem as it points up and back, it has to go somewhere after all and thankfully it doesn’t point into your face. I found it helpful to use an old toothbrush to rub the finer dust off of the filter when cleaning - otherwise suction can be reduced. We’ve never had to replace the re-useable filter. I have washed it with water a couple of times but it’s not really necessary. As others, I found there can be an initial blast of dust after cleaning the filter, but I also found that if I wiped everything down well enough that was avoided - in other words it’s dust that has gotten onto surfaces outside the dirt chamber and the outside of the filter housing during the emptying process. It’s not technically a flaw in the machine. Either way, after the first blast (if at all) there is no further dust that comes out of the machine in use. I’m quite in awe of how such a simple filter can be so effective at trapping everything. You’d need a particle counter to tell the difference between it and our Miele canister vac with it’s multiple filters including HEPA. This is one of those items that’s become an integral part of keeping our home tidy, and constantly saves time and therefore makes life more easeful on a regular basis. As I said we rarely pull out the broom (and the full vacuum is less used than before). It’s so easy to just grab this and deal with the few crumbs hear and there on the floor in the dining or living area. The job usually takes under a minute start to finish. Also worth mentioning that you can grab it with one hand as it sits on the wall mount charger ready to go whenever you need it. This is a huge advantage over many other designs of “hand vacs” because it lowers the barriers to use so much you end up using it whenever it could be helpful instead of doing some calculation in your head about whether it’s worth the effort of going to get, unfold, unplug, dig out the thing. I just reach out my hand to the side when I’m standing at the kitchen counter, or nip into the kitchen from wherever I am with and open hand and grab the handle and I’m in business. I have not found having to hold the button down to keep it going a problem, it’s placed naturally where my thumb would fall and it makes it really intuitive to start and stop the motor which feels appropriate for spot vacuuming. I would only say that it can’t really replace a full size vacuum if you have carpeted stairwells or floors or rugs larger than a 20 sq ft to clean. It also doesn’t have the same suction power as our full size canister vac.

I'm from the days of the ORGINIAL dust buster and this is it! It comes partially charged so you can use it right away. It has amazing suction! Picks every single little tiny piece of kitty litter! Some bad reviews are btching about how long it takes to charge. Boo hoo, get over it! It works great!
