Very Good System At A Fraction Of The Cost
The Barn Door system is a great value for the Price. This was about 3x more expensive at the big box hardware store. The product was packaged very well with all parts individually wrapped and secure in the box. Most of the accessories were placed in individual boxes to prevent damage during transport. The hardware appears to be solid. The bolts and nuts seem to be enamel painted black and have a slightly different texture tha the rails and J-hook. You really have to look hard to see the difference. The black enamel looks like it matches common black enamels like model paint or nail polish. The rail comes in 2-peices and when assembled, causes a very slight noise when the door passes. For my purposes, I needed about a 10-foot rail to hang two doors and found purchasing 2-systems to be the best option. I first found the studs, then dry fitted the system studs to determine the best way to hand it. I had to drill one additional hole to line up with a misplaced stud. I recommend using a drill press. The holes all 16inches apart. I had to cut the second system rail to fit the wall, giving me my extra length. I used a hacksaw and the cut took several minutes but is clean. The second rail fits nice with about a 1/16th inch gap. Definitely predrill your holes. Make sure the rail is tight to the wall before you hang the doors. I didn't and the rail flexed. Thankfully I checked my work and found the mistake. The door hardware was a little tricky. The instructions suggest using a 3/8th drill bit, but I found the hole very tight. A rubber mallet helped drive the bolts in. I improvised with the placement of the door hardware because the doors are not barn doors but reclaimed doors purchased from the ReStore. The doors hang well on the rail, but were a little finicky getting lined up. The stop that prevents the door from jumping the track seemed to get more in the way than it should. It took some moving the door back and forth to get it on the tracks. The doors fit about half an inch from the wall. This is not a weather tight door, definitely decorative. Slide the stops onto the rail. If you need a stop further than the first anchor bolt, you may have to unbolt the rail from the wall, put on the stop, then rebolt the rail. This is definitely a "plan ahead "moment. I included two pictures of the finished product. The doors line up well but have a slight gap. I figure that is user error.

Surprisingly high quality for the price
This product is equal to the quality of those I looked at in Lowes and for a fraction of the cost. The parts are seriously heavy duty, well finished, and up for the purpose. It comes with detailed instructions and measurements. The included guide parts for the bottom of the door are unlikely to work for most people as they will be thwarted by having to cut a kerf in the bottom of the door; any uneveness in in the floor; and they are plastic hence probably not very durable. We used a roller guide supplied also on Amazon which works well and has a lot of leeway on fit. We also determined that although the standoffs for the rail are solid metal and very wide that they might eventually crush sheet rock or plaster if mounted directly through the wall to studs. We elected to install a 1/4 rail of oak. this also made locating the standoffs and the screws easy and straight-forward. Unfortunately, while other reviewers commented on how well the two-piece rail fit and that the rollers went over it smoothly, this was not our experience. The fit is precise but the location by the factory was not so we had to file down the meeting point in order for the rollers to pass over smoothly. Overall very pleased with the product and expect many years. I would say order this with confidence.

Good quality, sturdy and so far works great
Right out of the box we could tell this was a high quality kit. Very heavy, nice texture and seemed well made. We were a hair concerned after reading reviews about the two halves of the rail creating a little "bump" where they come together, but this one was actually pretty flush, so we were happy about that. At first glance the instructions seemed confusing and not very descriptive, but once we got going it wasn't too bad. Our door is 4x8 and very heavy maple plywood with MDF strips on the front. This seems to be holding it up no problem, it slides nice (one wheel is a little noisy, but not bad considering the weight of the door), and it looks great. It comes with adjustable stoppers you slide on the ends of the rail to control how far the door goes in both directions. These are not strong enough to stay in place if you push the door hard, but as long as you open close gently, no problem. If you have kids, it could pose a problem potentially, but our kids are grown so can't say for sure. I'd say it took us 2-3 hours in total to get the door hung. The hardest part was getting all the holes perfectly level, so the door wouldn't slide one way or the other. Luckily we put a header above our opening when we built so finding studs wasn't an issue. Overall we are really happy with the purchase and it was far less expensive than the big box home stores. I would recommend. (P.S. there are some small rubber stoppers that we did not use and actually have no idea why they are included. They are supposed to prevent rubbing, but that was not an issue with our install and we followed instructions pretty closely).

Pretty impressed if you're handy.
I scoured the internet learning about barn doors and all the hardware. For the price and most of the reviews I had to try this kit. All in all it worked perfectly. The roller hardware was good quality and the coating they use is pretty durable. Honestly the rollers roll too easy. I snugged down the center bolt as far as it would go but it didn't ping the bearing as I had hoped. I'll probably find a washer to put in between the roller bracket and roller and hopefully create some resistance if it becomes a problem. The whole process is pretty self explanatory so if you're handy it'll make sense. There are no instructions and you will have to drill holes in the flat bar! The odds of hitting a stud with every hole im sure is pretty low so I would plan on drilling. If I do this again I will happily buy this kit but throw away the 2 piece flat bar and buy a solid piece. The 2 pieces are machined at an angle where they come together so it's really a pretty tight fit but it would be nice to level one 6' piece as opposed to 2 separate bars. I would check over and over that the bar is level before drilling any holes for the lag bolts. As I said, the door rolls SO easily that if it's not perfectly level I guarantee the door will open or close on its own! I mounted right to the drywall with no backer board. That would've pushed my door way too far away from the trim. Since this is the hallway bath, I needed it as close as possible for maximum privacy...and odors :). With the low tolerance behind the door, I wish the kit came with carriage bolts for hanging the door to the roller bracket instead of standard bolts. This would minimize the dragging on the trim behind the door as it slides. I was tired of going to the parts store otherwise I would've bought some carriage bolts (still might). I ended up not using the washers on those bolts, and speaking of washers the center hole on the ones that come with the kit are too big. I'd recommend buying smaller ones if you're a perfectionist and want your washer centered on the bolts. Lastly the door guide for the bottom of the door feels super weak and is just plastic. I was not looking forward to notching the bottom of my door with a skilsaw for the guide channel. I looked for an external guide or wheel but couldn't find anything cool so I notched the door. The plastic guide is more than sufficient and it looks pretty clean not having something sticking out at the bottom of the door.

Very Well Priced!
Okay, so due to my apparent OCD I am reviewing this order as It is outstanding in my "Review Your Purchases" Tab. Full disclosure, I order this for a custom barn door I was putting in, but ended up using another model. (The one with Boat Anchors as the Hardware) Even though I did not mount this, I do want to note a couple things, as it really is a good kit, even though I went a different route. This kit (as well as several other listed as 6.6Ft Sliding Barn Door Kits) are all relatively the same with just different hanger options. With that said, this specific amazon one is incredibly cheap (pricewise) about 1/3 the price of the one I ended up getting and just as well made. At 39.99 this is a very good buy if you are lookin for the "Basic J" hanger style. To add to that, the construction of this is very nicely done. The rollers spin very freely and without noise. Its heavy and secure and more then adequate to handle a large solid wood door. It came with all the hardware needed to mount, but you will still need to buy the handles separately. Just mentioning that in case it wasn't clear to you. If you are worried about hole spacing, just use a head board, that's what I ended up using on the one I mounted and was the same thing I planned to do with this. Using a headboard also allows you to keep the trim board in place without it rubbing against it. Even though I ended up with another model, I posted a photo here (keep in mind these are the Anchor hangers, but the concept is still the same, and this one uses the same type of support bar. Hope this helps!

Flat-Black looks great w/ any Door Slab!!
Use a 5โ or six foot level and a stud-finder for the track. If you were keeping the existing door casing, then use a header trim of similar thickness. The header screws can hit each stud. Whereas the track hole locations will vary. I guarantee this in any kind of existing door header condition. Itโs funny to hear professional builders complain about their pre-planning by pre-drilling existing holes at exactly 16 on center. Shame on you!! Studs landing at exactly 16โ O. C. never happens, in reality, with any kind of general existing framing at king and jack studs. U-Max; however, has greatly improved itโs quality!!!!!! My package was perfect! Well wrapped and protected and the packaging impeccable. When drilling any kind of hole, use a builderโs Speed Square to locate the initial drill hole points, but confirm it with each steel piece (as a template). Designated wheel hardware for each side. As Iโve said before, use each steel piece as a template, to confirm the hole location. Tap a smaller hole with a setscrew or use a smaller drill bit. This will make sure that the final larger drill bit will not โjumpโ, when pinpointing that center-of-hole location. If youโre working with a fine Mahogany, like I did, you could blow through the other side and take some wood with you. Re-sanding and re-staining helps to correct the blowout, but to avoid it you could locate both sides and pre-drill a little bit on the second side providing you hit it perfectly square which is a tough thing to do. The nut and washer will cover some of the tear-out. If youโre working with inexspensive, stressed, wood, itโs not an issue. Also, they call out for a 5/16โ clean out on the wheel hardware curved plates; however, a 3/8th bit does much better, and you wonโt be slamming a hammer into the nice powder- coated black machine bolt to force it โthruโ.... The directions are much better in feet-inches-sixteenth. For my mahogany finish, I used tongue oil (about seven coats), sanding in between with the 440 than a 1500 grit sandpaper. Itโs going to be Shweet!!

Surprisingly good quality for the price
When this came and first thing I saw was "made in China" on every parts pkg I was totally disappointed but once removed and set out, it seemed pretty sturdy so gave it a whirl. The parts fit together well enough for the headrail (2 pcs) and the wheels glide very smoothly on it. All parts were well coated with the black paint and nothing chipped off. If follow directions carefully, this is time consuming but not difficult if you're a handyperson or have someone helping who is. Really pleased with the final look and works exactly as I expected it to. Couple things learned: 1. MEASURE your barn door and opening exactly from various spots on the floor. We added 1 1/2" to the suggested measurements for the rail height and got a perfect 3/4" off the floor. Would've scraped using the directions numbers. 2. PUT IN A HEADBOARD to mount the rail on. No one's house has 16" on center studs that will exactly fit a sliding door unless the house was constructed with plans pre-set for one to be installed. 3. PRE-TEST ALL PIECES prior to installation. Rails in my pkg only fit one way and each piece had to go up individually before locking in center. Some screws fit different areas better than others. 4. Takes two people to construct this and put up a finished door so be sure you have help. Multiple sockets, drill bits, tape measures, step stools, etc. need to be at hand or will frustrate yourself with many trips to accomplish the build.

Do Not Buy Used or "Like New"
This is an excellent product. It's durable and easy to install once I had everything I needed. If you are installing over a door frame, you will need a Ledger Board metal plate. However, that didn't work for me, because it was too wide and wasn't as thick as I needed. Even if I had the ledger touching the door frame, the mount's holes were too high per the door requirement (see photos). I had to go to Lowes and buy an inch-wide piece of wood that was just under ยพโ thick (see photos). Once I drilled the holes in it to align with the metal mount, I still had to saw off the remaining portion of the screws that held the J Shaped Hangers in place because they were rubbing up against the door frame. Once I did that, everything was good. The metal mounts have holes placed every 16 inches. However, that didn't work for me. I had to use a drill press to drill holes through the metal mounts to match up with wall studs. If you purchase this, buy it NEW. I bought one in "Like New" condition, but one of the metal mounts was missing. I got another "Like New" replacement, and both J Shaped Hangers, along with screws, were missing. With those back-to-back bad experiences, I highly recommend you purchase this in "New" condition. Even with those experiences, it did not affect my rating. I would highly recommend it, and if I were to mount another barn door, I would purchase this Door Hardware Kit.

Great quality and value for the price
Great product, easy to install, and very sturdy. My only complain is the floor-guide included in this kit was a bit short in my case and looks very flimsy. My floor was a bit off-level and I had to install the door with a larger gap at the bottom. But luckily, I found a very good replacement floor-guide that worked for me. Over all, I am very happy with this set and would recommend it.

Great value product
Very happy with the quality of this kit. Easy to install and instructions were not as difficult as some others have mentioned. Good to have drill with ratchet set handy for drilling in bolts. Only small negative is that I wish the middle piece where the two join could have been better quality. Alot of weight on one small bolt to hold it all together. Didn't install floor guide since I didn't want to crack the floor tile but would have worked fine. Matches handle ordered perfectly. Overall a very good product. Better than anything in big box stores.

Look and work great
These work great. Slide nice and smooth. Hardware is great quality. It does keep the second door out a bit far, but we just added and extra piece of wood to the sides of the door and made it look as if the door was that thick.
