Excellent printer!
Excellent printer with fast, high quality output and very easy setup. Clear LCD controls and reliable performance make this a convenient and cost effective choice. Cheap but very reliable printing. Highly recommended!

Easy setup for AirPrint printing from iPhone and IPad
Having been frustrated by topping up little-used colour ink cartridges, I decided to forego a colour laser jet and opted for a mono laser printer which apparently is cheaper to run, more reliable and doesn’t suffer from clogged jets. I no longer use a PC and wanted a printer which would allow direct printing from an iPhone and an iPad, using AirPrint. The printer was - eventually, easy to set up. The setup procedure via the recommended app didn’t work for me, but in simply opting for a manual setup via the colour control screen it was very straightforward, after providing my network name and password. Printing from both the iPhone and iPad is fast and simple. Printer appears to be very well made, print quality is excellent. So far, so good, highly recommended.

Fantastic value.
I did quite a bit of research before deciding on this one. I need a printer because I’m disabled and can’t write with a pen anymore. But I don’t use them all that often, so inkjet printers are useless, as they dry up if you don’t use them constantly. Hence why I needed a laser printer. It’s a mono printer, so only prints in black and white. But that’s great for me as that’s all I need. Just to print letters off. It’s fast and it prints beautifully. Not a single error like you often get with inkjets. It also connects to the Brother Mobile connect app with iOS and android. You don’t even need a PC. You can print straight from your phone over WiFi. I have also connected it to my computer though and it works flawlessly. Another great thing about it is that the ink is great value. You can get compatibles for less than £20 for it from the brother website or via the app. It’s also cheaper on Amazon than a lot of other retailers. All in all, I’m really impressed and glad I did my research.

Good printer - bad setup
The printer itself is perfectly fine. Good print quality, fast printing, duplex printing is great, wireless is great. Speaking of wireless, here's the reason I knocked one star off. The instructions are simply terrible and don't work. I worked my way through the menus myself to get WiFi working, but I've got the advantage of being a former comms engineer. I use Linux, and there's the other problem. The instructions for installing the software are bad too. I had to web search to find out what was really needed. Also, the EcoPro free 4 months didn't happen, as the signup locked up as I was completing it and I can't get back in. Not bothered by that though, as it's cheaper to buy your own OEM toners than pay £1.99 a month. But if you can get over the jenky software setup, it's a great printer that I'd recommend for anyone needing to print documents, emails, invoices and the like.

Very good printer.
The printer is very well built, looks good...and prints clearly & quickly. For the money paid, it's a bargain. Small annoyance :- No USB lead was supplied (But everyone's probably got a spare)

Great printer bought used and saved £60
Great printer. Got it used very good for £60 less than brand new one. Checked the printer logs and it had only printed 19 pages before it was returned. Not a mark on it anywhere. Setup no problem and did some test prints. Fast print speed add excellent print quality compared to an inkjet. Registered printer online for warranty and signed up for 6 months free toner. Super deal. Very pleased!

I don’t usually take time to write reviews, but this printer is so bad that it really warrants one, just so any other potential shoppers steer clear. Let’s start with the positives: Setup was really easy - printer can be connected to WiFi straight from the menu. Entering the password manually is a bit long winded, but the printer supports WPS too. Printer can be connected to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. On a PC, downloading and installing necessary software from Brother’s website was easy and effortless, but data collection is an opt out rather than opt in. iPhones, iPads and Macs can print via AirPrint - right out of the box. Printed text is of fair quality, I found that bumping up default 600 dpi resolution to HQ1200 dpi in driver settings does improve it. That’s pretty much it. On to the bad stuff: Scan quality is atrocious - scans lack clarity, and colour reproduction is poor. Copies of text look fine, but pages with grey or graphics - forget it. It will all come out black. With regards to printing - this is the worst part: If your document has any graphics or elements in colour other than black - i.e. shades of grey, colour, etc - the printer does a very poor job of rendering those elements, with loads of artifacting around said graphical elements and poor quality rendering. Greys and colour turn black. I have compared said printouts with printouts of the same documents from a cheap mono laser Pantum printer and the results are night and day and not in Brother's favour. To remedy this, I have tried changing driver settings, reinstalling drivers, using default Microsoft drivers, printing from different devices - no joy. There is only one conclusion - disappointing to say it mildly. Software is buggy and rough around the edges - seems like developers tried updating the old Brother software suite - which was great by the way - but rather than rewriting the software from scratch, the old version was poorly patched up and it shows - software lacks cohesion and triggering uninstaller from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel leaves loads of crap behind. Deleting leftovers manually causes issues, and further attempts to reinstall the software fail. Brother printers were great in the past, but poor scan and print quality in addition to the horrible software suite means that the only advice I can give is to stay away. Spend your hard earned money on a Canon, Pantum, Samsung and thank me later.

Love it
Oh man it's so good. I used to have an ink jet and this just blows them out the water. Its fast, reliable and crisp. No leaks, no lines on the page, no recalibration. It even does back to back printing. I'm never going back to ink jet ever!
