Ideal item to hold very small twist drill bits.

Not for hard metal.
I bought this set to drill through a metal shaft (not exceptionally hard, as far as I can tell). The bits are apparently not designed for this kind of material. I tried the two .040 bits, and both dulled almost immediately. Further effort overheated the shaft a bit. I have tungsten bits that I have found to be rather fragile, so I was avoiding using them, but one of those sailed through the shaft quickly. So if your target is soft material (circuit boards, very soft metal, wood, plastic, etc.), these bit may be just what you want. The pin-vise handle is nice and worked well.
