I use this to attach my GoPro to my bcd when scuba diving.Perfect for the job. It would also be suitable for a larger camera when diving.

Have used this on around 50 dives now with my Canon underwater housing. It's exactly what I was looking for - a way to clip your camera to your BCD so that if you let go, you don't need to worry as it's still safely clipped on. You can have it on short strap where you don't need to hold on to it, or use the quick release and hold it in your hands to take photos using the wrist strap. Either way it's still clipped to your BCD so it's safe at all times. Hasn't rusted or worn out in any way. Would definitely recommend.
