To start, I have a background in construction but on the electrical side. I know enough about HVAC to be dangerous. A few years ago my home was rebuilt due to a fire. Since my walls and ceiling were opened I took the opportunity to have central AC installed. The contractor that did the work did an awful job and my AC is basically a mess. I haven’t tried looking at the ducts but they are either not balanced well, the larger and hotter areas may have too small of a duct to them, insufficient air return, etc. So, I ordered this kit to measure HVAC airflow and pressure in order to hopefully have a more informed discussion with my repairman on what the issue may be. I will say my experience was mixed though. The package includes both an anemometer and a manometer, along with tubing, accessories and a carrying case. Everything arrived well packaged and organized. I like that it comes in a nice little carrying/storage case. The displays are easy enough to read and the quality seems decent for the price ($85.99 at time of receipt for testing and review). However, I found the setup and operation less intuitive than I had expected. Or hoped. The equipment is lightweight but still feels durable. I was able to get readings, but I had a bit of a hard time getting consistent measurements. Either I am doing it wrong or the machines (or instructions) are lacking a bit. The instructions could be clearer, especially for someone who is not already familiar with airflow and pressure testing equipment. Despite my construction background, I still struggled with it a bit. Keep in mind that this is definitely not a professional level kit. This is more for the DIY’er. Since I don’t have a better machine to calibrate this against I can’t fully speak on its accuracy. I may have one of the HVAC guys I work with test it out for me eventually (but not everyone has that type of access).
