It definitely keeps carbon at bay
I have used redex diesel system system cleaner on my diesel Volvo for the nine years i have owned my car. Each and every fill up with diesel has redex added. I took off my EGR valve last autumn. Amazingly it wasn’t even worth cleaning it no carbon build up. In my opinion it’s brilliant stuff.
