I wear a size 9-1/2 us boot. what size boot cover would i need?

I wear size 8 1/2 us shoes. My otho boot says it is size Medium, so, I ordered size Large as suggested by the seller and it fit perfectly.

I want to wear this over my air cast at the beach. Is it good to keep sand out of the air cast? Does it come in any light colors?
