Easy to use and needed for customizations
I bought this in order to configure an EVO-ALL remote starter and used it again later to easily add an RF extender. The programmer is most likely going to be a "one use" tool for most users, but the business model is common for industries that still try to enforce quality control though the use of proprietary dealer/installer gates such as the car alarm industry, so its understandable and I'm glad that the price is as low as it is. I do feel like this model is obsolete in this day and age, however, and there shouldn't be any reason why a USB or JTAG connection can't be supported for something like this.My review is for the device, however, and not the chosen business model of the manufacturer....The device itself is very easy to use and the software that is used with it is laid out well and matches the instruction sheets that come with Fortin products. The connector between the programmer and the EVO-ALL is a bit of a tight fit and relies on connectors that are meant more for circuit board interconnects rather than an external cable, but is; ultimately not a real issue since the connection will not be used very often. The programmer and software was able to query my device and auto-detect all of the settings. A firmware update was required and was mostly an automated process. Once updated, I used the installation instructions to make sure all of the settings were correct and they were saved without issue. Replaced the EVO-ALL back into my vehicle and programmed the new key fobs. Everything worked perfectly the first time.

Worked great required for use with Fortin EVO One or All Install
Worked great required for use with Fortin EVO One or All Install. I needed it to program a Fortin Evo One for my vehicle. You hook your EVO up to this device before you install it to your vehicle and set your vehicle make and model and it does mostly everything itself by adding the required firmware specific to your vehicle. You can then have the option to change a few of the settings to meet your preference. To me the interface is a little outdated and should be upgraded to USB C but it worked without and issue and it was not very slow. This unit may also be required after install for the decryptor function if your key code needs to be copied but that is only needed for certain vehicles. I did not have to do this in my case but check the Fortin website. I can also pre program your EVO if you need it done for a small cost.

Instructions not fully complete.
Online video not fully explaining the difficulty of install. Dash removal ECT. Finally got it in but not without some difficulty. Instructions were unclear need some clarification on steps and connections to the EVO controller.

You probably need this if you're installing a Fortin EVO-ONE or EVO-ALL
This solved my problem of receiving an improperly programmed EVO-ALL Remote Starter. It can also help you if you want to transfer your Starter from one vehicle to another (you're only allowed 8 firmware updates), or change the Starter function options (unlimited tries as far as I can tell). It took me a few tries to get everything set up correctly, but everything finally worked. It is necessary to have internet access WHILE doing the programming, since the downloadable PC software requires a live connection to the Fortin server to work (the server was down briefly in the middle of one of my trial and error attempts, so I couldn't change Starter options). Also, you have to dig around in the software to find the link to the Manager User Guide PDF file that sort of explains the setting options, I don't remember where I ended up finding it.Be sure to look through the Questions and Answers section of the Fortin Support Website, this device is isn't terribly difficult to use, but it's easy to not get right.

DO NOT EVER BUY THIS!!
You get tempted into buying a remote start, then you have to buy a wiring harness, then you have to buy a flash link manager to make it all work. Save yourself the hassle, just buy the OEM remote start. The flash link manager wont ever work.

Does what it's supposed to do...when it actually does what it's supposed to do.
Not a fan of this product. But I am a fan of Fortin bypass modules, but not of the need of a separate purchase to program the module (this product).I'll explain. Its use is straight-forward, you need this to connect the EVO-ALL to your PC to program the module. It seems a money grab, seeing that the module is useless without this programming. That's the first strike. Shame on your Fortin. The second strike: The first one shipped to me had a known issue, that would not allow it to program the module. I ended up needing a replacement, which Amazon's A+ customer service team got straightened out (and shipped overnight). This changed an install in 40 degree weather to an install in 10 degree weather. Not cool. Cold, but not cool.I'm impressed with the EVO-ALL module, and impressed with Amazon customer service. I'm not impressed with the fact that I had to buy (for a one time use, really) the 100% NECESSARY piece to use my purchased module as an added expense. Nor am I impressed that it came to be DOA with a very common issue (ie, should be fixed by now).
