I've been using these small oxygen absorbers for almost 15 years now. I vacuum seal rice in a wide mouth quart jar and add one of these to remove the rest of the oxygen. I've found that if you don't add an oxygen absorber after about a year and a half when opening the jar of rice it won't smell fresh. However, if you add an oxygen absorber it will smell fresh after 10 years of storage. When you get them you'll know if they are good if they are soft, if they are real hard on the inside that means they are spent and should be discarded. On this particular brand of oxygen absorbers I found that they smell like rubber, something I've never smelled before on my other ones. I store these in a wide mouth mason jar, unseal it and pull a few out then pull a vacuum on them to seal them back up. After a couple months I took a few out and the jar of oxygen absorbers smelled strongly of rubber, like you walked into a tire shop. Not sure yet if it will make my food taste like rubber. I probably won't buy this brand again because of it. However, they did come activated, none appeared to be hard as a rock, so still functional.

I really like that it’s 4 separate packages. However, make sure to use all of whatever is open within about an hour if you can because they do go bad. Will definitely be buying these again.

My metal clay oxidizes very easily when stored. This is the perfect solution to keep it fresh.
