It turns out I actually like this style a bit better. My son was able to easily open and close this on his own at 3 yrs old. The sections allow for very reasonable portions. Because the lid does not have a rubber surface, moisture from one section does affect another section a bit more than in the insert style box . However this one is much easier to clean so i usually reach for it first. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best lunch boxes *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2018* These are the best lunch boxes..and I have tried many! These are great because they are lighter than other types of Bento-style. The lid snaps on the tray directly and there is no outer case which adds a lot of weight and more pieces to wash. There are no pieces on the lid snaps that can easily break compared to other boxes. The lid seals each section to stop food from migrating to other sections but it doesn't stop liquid. (ie not good for canned fruit or very saucy food) However you can put dips in the round section which has a nice rubber lid. The last box I purchased came with two round lids for this section which was great because they can easily get thrown out if not careful. They are good size for my 6 and 8 year olds. The big section is perfect size for a whole sandwich, many other Bento boxes won't fit a while sandwich. ### ⭐⭐ I have been able to cram these bottoms into the hard case and they work fine.
