So, two months ago I bought the adapter and added a 1TB M.2 drive. Once I got all the case screws off, the hardware upgrade took all of two minutes. She now has a 13" 2017 MacBook Air with a 1 TB NVME drive running Catalina smooth as silk. Best of all, the adapter and SSD cost less than $80 total!
