Nice packaging
I'm doing a development project that will use a custom PCIe card and needed to set up a system that I could use while the hardware folks are still working on the special boards. This solution worked great. It adds a real, standard one lane PCIe edge connector to a stock Raspberry-Pi 5. Hardware and even a small screwdriver are included as well as the needed flexible connector to go from the Pi PCI connector to the board. (In my case there were two of these, nice to have a spare!)The board just serves as a base for the Pi and the Pi bolts on to it. In a very clever packaging, the board has spring loaded contacts to tap power from the bottom of the Pi's GPIO connector without needing to install wires. This powers the interface board while leaving all 40 pins available for hats or other uses. The board has a switch to select power from the Pi or seperately via its own connector. This allows low power boards to just work or the use of external power if the board consumes a lot of power. The actual board is nicely made with rounded corners and seems a little more robust (solid) than many add-on boards. I plugged in a board (I used an off-the-shelf Ethernet board for testing) and it was recognized with no problem. This is a great way to add a PCIe board to your Pi or, as in my case, to provide a platform to develop custom PCIe interfaces. I've ordered a second so that I can develop at home and at work (I work hybrid) since this is an add-on that I expect to be using a lot.
