Before reviewing this product,I want to mention that we have been using Elgi Ultra Grind+ (2.5L) for 25 years. Not once the motor failed .Not many maintenance issues except that worn out roller had to be replaced that too after 20years. Even when there was a requirement of any service, it was available at our door step. Now the granite in the drum is worn out and developed radial cracks. Unfortunately, exact replacement for the drum is not available it seems.Hence, we had to buy a new grinder. Although,as a product Elgi Ultra Grind+ was exceptional,cleaning some of the dough exposed parts was bit difficult. The conical stones were also splashing the dough on the lid. Hence it was decided to try out cylindrical roller model. Sowrna Lakshmi wet grinder was our choice. My review on this product is given below: Prompt delivery by Amazon within three days. The package was delivered with safe packaging; no damage was found. The product was absolutely fresh. The grinder works well. It was not noisy. Heating was slightly higher than Elgi. After half an hour of usage the motor body temperature was 40deg C. During initial run, some smell was felt. However, it was absent during subsequent use. 800g (measured before soaking) of rice was ground within half an hour. Subsequently, black gram was ground in another half an hour. The total grinding time was an hour. It was bit faster than Elgi Ultra. Probably because the drum speed in Sowrna lakshmi grinder is 166rpm while it was 133rpm in Elgi Ultra. These speed numbers were based on my measurement with a tachometer. Cleaning of this grinder was bit easier as all dough exposed parts could be removed from the grinder for cleaning. The machine thus works well. Atta kneader and coconut scraper were supplied along with the grinder free of cost. They also work well. Nevertheless,one needs to develop skill and will in using these useful accessories effectively. Overall, Sowrna Lakshmi wet grinder is a good buy. It is incidentally the cheapest of all similar models in terms of cost. Indeed, it is a good value for the money spent. As for as service is concerned, we need to wait and see.
