Life saver. Best money I have spent.
This is a lifesaver for anyone that has to take important medication at set intervals. Highly recommended and has worked perfectly since day 1 over 9 months ago and going strong. I would give this more stars if I could. Highly recommended.

Great for people with alzheimers
Bought this for my mum, This is just perfect for people with Alzheimer's , alarm goes off to remind them pills due, it's lockable and only opens when alarm goes and and set time. Brilliant product, so pleased.

Not reliable
Bought this for my father who has dementia it is superb when it works but about once a week it gets stuck and alarms all night. Not reliable and then when it arrived there was no disks to label the days or medication intervals. Cannot get any reply from the company selling this product. Very disappointing and unreliable but if it worked would be brilliant product.

Very good with a few niggles (read on ...)
I bought this for my mother who has Alzheimer's. It is quite difficult to program, but OK once you get the hang of it. The options are very versatile - just don't lose the instructions ! Good points: 1) light and sound alarms, 2) lockable, 3) choice of clear or opaque lid, 4) multiple dispensing options available. I chose the clear lid so I could easily see if it needed refilling or if a dose has been missed - and I figured I could cover/spray paint it later if needed. Snags: 1) the sound alarm is not loud enough - mum does not hear it unless her hearing aides are in, 2) other reviewers have reported it sticking between compartments and displaying "error" - this has indeed happened to ours. However it seems to be dust from the pills collecting underneath the carousel. Cleaning the tray and the bottom of the carousel eliminated this problem. 3) Depending on the state of the patient it might be necessary to tape up the battery compartment (pity this isn't also lockable - some items secure the battery compartment lid with a screw) Would I recommended it - most definitely yes. Much better than the matrix compartments for someone who loses track of time and days. I have used it for about 6 months and so far only one dose has been missed - compared to multiple doses, doubling up etc. using the old method.

Sad but they are cunning
If for a dementia person, they will without a doubt be able to break into it. They are cunning and deceitful people and will go out of their way to make it work for them, not their fault at all, don't get me wrong, it is what they do. At least at times it works for dementia people. Sad but they are cunning, lying people. Not their fault. This product really does not stop them breaking into it and taking more than they should or throwing it across the room and breaking it. Such is dementia life. We have to live with it, SAD

Purchased this for my husband who takes medication 4 times daily which he must take on time, every time. Due to his Parkinson's Disease, he has a terrible time trying to open bottles or dispensers and when his medication is late, his PD can cause body freezing, tremors, slurred or no speech and many other symptoms. This is a Godsend and so much more superior to blister packs, especially when medication times are crucial. The machine beeps and flashes at the set times ( I have mine set to 4 times per day). You can adjust the tone of the beep. (great for people with hearing loss). The dispenser moves the medication and all he has to do is tip the dispenser over to retrieve the medication. The machine keeps beeping and flashing until he removes the medication. When you purchase this product spend the extra $10 and get the one with the clear cover. You can see how much and when you need to reload. I tell all our friends within the Parkinson's Community that this simple device can make such a difference in the quality of life of someone living with Parkinson's.

After trying multiple methods to help our mom (struggling with vascular dementia) with her medications and failing miserably, we decided to try this automatic pill dispenser. I appreciate all the reviews others took the time to write that helped us decide on this one. After using it for about 2 1/2 months, we feel we have finally hit upon the solution so she can feel she has control over taking her medications. We are fortunate enough that she can take all her medications (5 different ones) at the same time in the evening so we can fill this up with 28 days worth. The alarm feature (set up to several a day) is great and mom has no trouble hearing it. We placed a round tray under it and she then tilts it over the tray where she can then pick them up and take them. So far, so good. The only things we've had to deal with is the lock and making sure it has caught properly and the disc that shoes the days. Once, we thought the lock had completely closed; however, several days later it came open when mom went to flip it over. Fortunately, she saved all the pill and we could make sure she had taken the ones necessary. Now, we test the latch door 3 times to make sure it is properly locked (we also bought an extra key in case something happens to the one that comes with it-we place the key and extra meds out of reach). The plastic rings that have the days or times to take the medications have these small tabs you bend down into the medication wells. We had trouble with them staying down and tiny pills getting suck. We finally cut the tabs off and taped the ring down - problem solved. We highly recommend this dispenser for anyone who may have trouble remembering when to take their pills plus those who just need some help getting the right pills taken at the right time. Our mom feels like she still has control of taking her pills and doesn't need someone to come administer them. We try to give her as much independence as she can handle given her current situation. It gives us great peace of mind that she isn't taking extra doses because she doesn't remember she took them already (basic am/pm daily dispensers) or that she misses a dose all together since the alarm goes off to let her know it's time to take them. 8 month update: It’s been working perfectly for 8 months. Mom has been turning the dispenser over with both hands onto a tray to retrieve her pills. We apparently missed the low battery sign and it stopped working the day before yesterday. After replacing the batteries, it has worked for 2 days. Tonight it sounded the alarm and she got her pills but she said the lights started blinking and more pills “came out”. I just hope it’s a weird occurance because I’m not sure what we will do without this. I can’t find any indication the company has a warranty for the item either. I also haven’t read anyone else having this particular problem.
