Did they change designs?** A: The shades without the felt are made for the stm lenses the felt shades. Are still made but the for the good metal mount lens not the plastic mount **Q: Will this fit the canon t71?** A: You need some knowledge, let me help. Canon lens hoods are always made specifically for dedicated Canon lenses. Most Canon lens hoods aren't even interchangeable from one Canon lens to another. **Q: Is there any size difference between this and the ew-73b? it also fits my 18-135 perfectly. will it not work well in the higher focal lengths?** A: I think this is smaller overall. I don't suggest using anything but the intended hood for any lens, as they are engineered specifically to work with the size of the front elements as well as its shape.. The 18-135mm uses Lens Hood EW-73D. I would recommend something cheaper than the Canon version, like a promaster.
