Hunter Safety System Rope Style Treestrap: 9' Hunting Safety Strap with Prussik Knot for Climbing & Treestand Security

If you're like me and started out using the "seat belt" style straps then trust me when I say you have to buy this! It's a gamechanger. It's so simple and easy to use compared to the others. Just sling it around the tree, run it through the loop, snap in your harness and you're done. It's a very nice rope and has a nice feel to it. It also rolls up nicely to go in your pack. I bought a second climbing rated carabiner, and a ropeman ascender to pair with this rope. I use it as a lineman belt for hanging climbing sticks, and as a tree tether when using a climber or ladder stand. With my climber i throw this thing on the tree while on the ground, and just move it up the tree as I climb. Using this method is super simple and keeps me safe from the ground up! I highly recommend this rope!

I read some of the one star comments. This item is designed to be used with "Climbing Stands" like indicated on the packaging. You need a different set up for lock-ons and ladder stands. I have used this system for over a decade and it keeps you secured to the tree while ascending and descending in your 'climbing stand' (see product video). Very simple to use and and quiet. For example: step onto the platform of your climbing stand, connect harness to carabiner of the prusik knot, and adjust the rope attachment by sliding the prusik knot to meet the diameter of the tree as you climb or descend. Tip: I carry my system (prusik knot rope) in and out of the woods to limit any possible weather damage.

Whether you make your own or purchase this one, I would definitely recommend purchasing one of these setups to anyone that tree stand hunts. Once it's set in the tree it provides a safe, convenient, and reliable way to get up and down from your stand without risking a fall. There are two downsides to this product that I have found: 1. You still need to find a way to set up your tree stand and tree strap before you can use this safety rope. That's not a knock at all to this product or its design, but definitely something to consider. I personally use a linemans' rope and it works well for me. 2. The rope could come a bit longer. I only sit between 15-20 feet up in a tree, yet I found that the rope wasn't quite as long as I had hoped it would be. I have to climb up to the first step of my tree stand before I can hook myself to the line. This isn't a dangerous thing, rather an inconvenience. However, it would be worth either HSS providing a longer rope, or if you like your stand set very high in the tree, considering another option. All in all it is my opinion that this is worth the money you pay for it and a necessary addition to any tree stand hunter's system. Just be sure to consider your stand height when looking at this option. If you sit over 20 feet in the tree, you may want to look elsewhere.

Great purchase

Very simple to use, wrap around the tree and slide it through the hole. Latch D rings onto your harness. I use the cheap harness that came with my climbing stand. One day before I purchased this item, I was bow hunting about 20ft high, had a doe walking to my right. I stood up and tried to draw my bow, couldn't do it. My body was too close to the tree to turn right and I failed to even check it because I had all my feed and game trails to my left. I purchased this tree strap and can now comfortably shoot in a 360 degree pattern and feel 100% secure while doing it. When I get to the top of my tree and clamp this onto my harness, I know I'm safe. FYI, this would not be ideal to wrap around the tree at the base and try to climb and constantly move it up as you go (even though that's probably the safest way to use it). That would take entirely too long for me. I climb the tree and then clip on to this, just leave it wrapped around the tree at the top. (I hunt private land so not too worried someone will steal my stuff)

Excatly what I wanted! Awesome quality. I purchased a Summit climber but could not stand the seat belt material tree strap that came with it... it kept twisting when tightened & losened while climbing which was highly annoying, also it was much slower and it really pulled my face towards the tree as the back strap on the harness is not the longest for obvious reasons, -it really limited my movement. This safety rope is the solution to all of these issues being fixed, it is quiet, super fast and highly adjustable in length for what ever slack you feel comfortable with. Well worth the money, the carabiner hooks on to the harness quickly and in silence. Everything about this rope is great, I feel safe and free.
