Works better than sand

I bought a smaller sand filter for my small above grond pool. I was tired of buying replacement filters that would clog and stop flowing. When i bought the filter, i did research on sand and found these. These a little more expensive then some, but have a good rating. I tested them before i attached it to my pool. They seemed to work just fine. Now that the filter and pimp is attached to my pool, things seem to work well. Update. A year now, water is clear. When i closed my pool, I emptied these out of the filter and the top layer was gross. So i pressure washed them. Let them dry in the sun, good as new. Put them back into the filter, fill, rinse, flush, and boom clear water. I still have half the bag I haven't used. I'm not sure what those folks have happening that it doesn't filter (mine got all the gross). My pump is twice the size needed for my pool, but I wanted that so it didn't have to work as hard when it was running. Just these, my pump and occasional vacuum of the little stuff that settles into the corners and my pool is clean.

This is my second time buy this type of filter balls. We were having a problem with our pool sand channeling and it blowing the sand into the pool. Ever since I bought these we have had no issues. The first ones I bought were white and lasted roughly 3 seasons. At the end of the season I remove them from the sand filter, put them in the bags they provide, wash them out really well and set them out to dry. The only reason I replaced them is that they had lost their shape and we getting a bit gross. I hope this new design works just as good and last as long as the first ones.

Loved these as a replacement for the heavy sand in our above ground pool filter. It is useful to buy enough to allow for a replace and wash. The pool stayed clear!

Terrible product. They just dont work. Tried the balls for 1 week and the pool was still green. I switched back to sand and the pool was blue in 1 weekend.

I was very happily impressed with these. My nephew bought a rural property in Montura, FL and it had an above ground pool that had been neglected and abandoned. He wanted to rehabilitate it, but the old sand was too contaminated so we went with this -lighter to transport all the way there from Miami and even cheaper I think. I had experience with sand medium before, but not this but figure it's cheap enough, arrived fast and it's simple to use, not to mention to make your bottle lighter and easier to handle. Wellthis did the trick. We haven't tried washing them yet since there's been no need but they're supposedly machine washable so maybe we'll try that later on. So far, it's been a couple of months of good service. I must say, I did use more balls than recommended, I kind of eyeballed the size inside the bottle to the point I felt comfortable they'll do the job, and they are.

I used these for a full season and we are going back to sand next year. These balls filter debris much better than expected but turned my water blue because of all the blue fuzz. We also experienced episodes of cloudy water which caused us to use much more additives then we ever had to with sand.
