Review: In this case, the squeeze IS worth the juice. (Or, these are the ones to get.) - My wife and I have been conducting a decidedly unscientific experiment with packing cubes. It started with a set of desertcart Essentials Packing Cubes , which did a great job of keeping our suitcases organized. But that got us wondering: Could we do even better? Specifically, could we compress our clothes enough to free up some valuable suitcase space? We decided to put three different approaches to the test: 🔹 Cheap—excuse me, inexpensive—vacuum bags, specifically these [[ASIN: Travel Vacuum Bags with USB Electric Pump]]. 🔹 Much more expensive, supposedly higher-quality vacuum bags, specifically these Travel Vacuum Bags with USB Electric Pump . 🔹 These Gonex compression packing cubes. I'll spare you the suspense. Both types of vacuum bags were terrible, although for entirely different reasons. I've detailed their shortcomings in separate reviews. The Gonex cubes, on the other hand, were the clear winners. We're still using them, and we've bought more. What makes them so good? For starters, they're remarkably lightweight and add almost no bulk. Despite that, the material and construction feel sturdy enough to withstand years of travel. The compression zipper works smoothly and consistently, without the fuss and frustration of vacuum pumps. Perhaps my favorite feature is that they retain their rectangular shape. Whether they're lightly packed or stuffed to capacity, they remain neat, predictable rectangles that fit efficiently into a suitcase. No awkward lumps or oddly shaped bundles to wrestle into place. And as a bonus, they're surprisingly inexpensive and come in a wide variety of colors, making it easy to organize different types of clothing or assign colors to different family members. After trying all three approaches, our search is over. The Gonex cubes deliver exactly what we wanted: better organization, dependable compression, and less wasted suitcase space, all without adding unnecessary complexity. Sometimes the simplest solution really is the best.
Review: nice bags for the price. - just as described. was able to roll up a lot of clothes into each of these bags, zipping up the compression zipper was a little difficult, using my knee will zipping, but when finished, it was good. Great for travel, we used them for a cruise, which allowed us to take a few extra clothes.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Doesn't look like you can see what is inside when closed. Am I correct?**
A: Correct. Not transparent.

**Q: could I use the extra large bag for a standard sized latex pillow holder? Pillow is 25 x 15 x 5. But squishy soft**
A: that might be pushing it. I tried sticking my standard pillow in there just to try and answer your question and it didn't really work well. I had a huge ziploc bag though and that worked much better at compressing the air out of a pillow. It was one of those huge ziploc bags for packing and storing clothes.

**Q: Do your clothes get really wrinkled using these?**
A: It is not fully wrinkle free -but it is good enough to wear during holidays - I think the best part of the packing cubes is that one can keep the clothes separate after taking it our from the luggage and it takes less space inside the luggage.

**Q: do these have ykk zippers and ripstop nylon?**
A: They have the nylon I believe, the zippers are sturdy and well done

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Convenient compression cubes for travel
*by A***R on January 31, 2026*

I've used these on several trips now, and I think they are a decent choice if you need some compression cubes. They work well. There are two zippers, so you first lay your clothes in them and zip up the top. Then you zip the additional zipper to compress them even further. Note: You cannot stuff the bag so full that it's hard to zip the first zipper – the second zipper will not zip. I can definitely fit more in my suitcase than I could before I had these cubes. The sizes have a good variety. It helps keep my clothing organized during trips. The handle is also a nice addition. I've washed them several times and they seem to hold up in the wash. My only issue is that one of the cubes got a one-inch hole on the seam after my first trip. It may have been my fault for packing the cubes too tightly. I can still use it even with the hole.
