Harry Potter Instrumental Solos for Strings: Violin (Book & CD): From the Complete Film Series (Instrumental Solo Series)

I bought this for a violin pupil who was becoming slightly jaded with her grade 2 exam preparation. The work and repetition is always necessary for exams, but this book has given her the boost she needed, so that the violin is enjoyable for her again. My only negative comment where this book is concerned is that the piano accompaniment is not detachable from the violin part, so we will have to copy it in order to take it to the piano!

We ordered the first publication and have no complaints, but this updated version would be perfect if not for the fact that there appears to be no music on the CD. The returns system is fantastic - both fast and efficient - but, having received the replacement today, I now find that the CD once again is blank. What I would like is to be able to speak to someone about whether this is a dodgy batch. My daughter is desperate to play some of the newer pieces and I don't want to keep getting replacements that don't work. Both our CD players are working fine with other CDs. Edited to add: I ordered my 3rd copy from Amazon after they assured me there was no longer a problem. It has just arrived. I tried it a few minutes ago and ... ta-da ... no, it's not ta-da, it's not working! Then I spotted something on the CD and on the book cover - it's an mp3 CD. Now I didn't even know that these existed and I'm surprised no one else at Amazon noticed it either. I have just popped it into my laptop and it's fine.

Bought this for my granddaughter who is studying at grade 2. She is finding it challenging but enjoying it. She likes the cd option to play along to.

Inspiring, Grade 1 student is taking reaching new heights due to her enthusiasm for the HP series and this is aimed at Grade 2/3 - brilliant purchase..!

Excellent arrangement of all of the important themes from the series. Some of the cues go up to third position, but that's been fun to go through with my teacher. Worth the money!

I received the book, however it states it comes with a cd, it doesn't there is a download code in the front of the book, which is a bit of a pain as then have to sign up with name and email address and then download the music to a laptop and place on to a cd or MP3 player. I don't understand why it can't come with a cd as it states as would be a lot easier. There isn't a cd so if you don't have the equipment to download don't buy the book.

My daughter is 9 and intermediate. This book has actually been very helpful. It is a mix of easy, moderate and difficult so that she can practice, play songs she likes and also get challenged a bit. So far, songs are also matching up quite well - we recognized the theme music right away.

Ich bin ein großer Harry Potter Fan und wollte schon lange die Stücke spielen. Seit ca. 2 Jahren spiele ich Geige und beherrsche die 1. und 3. Lage. Die Stücke empfinde ich meist als gut machbar. Allerdings ist die Unterstützung eines Lehrers hilfreich mit Tipps, welche Finger oder Lage man nutzen sollte und bei Tönen, die man bisher noch nicht gespielt hat. Zum Beispiel habe ich bisher keine Molltonarten gespielt. Mit etwas Geduld gelingt es einem aber sehr gut, die Stücke schön zu spielen.

This is a gift to my 11year-old brother learning the violin who loves Harry Potter. Came brand new, and maybe even cheaper than what I've seen in some music stores? I like the variety of the song collection from the different movies, the accompaniment CD will help him as well! The piano accompaniment also does not seem difficult enough so he could learn it as well. (Or I could join in so we can play together) Can't wait to order myself the same book for Flute so we could play together! It appears to be sold out at the moment.

Partition très agréable superbes musique, seulement la partie Alto est plutôt simple mais celle de piano très mais très très difficile.. attention à avoir un bon niveau
