Physical description; 149p. ilustr. ; 24 cm. Subjects Jackson, Michael - Poems - Reflections. Review: Precious book - Such a beautiful and heartwarming book!!! Michael Jackson was an amazing person and, despite being extremely famous, he cared deeply for others and was humble. It's so precious to be able to read his own poems and things he wrote. His song "Heal the World" is in this book and it's so beautiful! Review: excellent work - i LOVED this book of poems and reflections from michael jackson. i like to write poetry myself and so i can really appreciate and identify in that way here - i am also a very reflective thinker and so i really appreciate people who take the time to reflect and write down their thoughts. i love to write so i can relate to this form of communication well. this book really gives insight into the mind and thoughts of michael jackson in a way that is so unique that it is inspiring and very deep. i truly enjoyed reading this and being exposed to a side of mj that i didn't know before. the introduction says this : "i think michael is like litmus paper. he is always trying to learn. he is so intelligent that he is alarmingly bright. he is also very curious and wants to draw from people who have survived. people who have lasted. he is not really of this planet. he is filled with deep emotions that create an unearthly, special, innocent, childlike, wise man that is michael jackson. i think michael appeals to the child in all of us, and i think he has the quality of innocence that we would all like to obtain or to have kept." - elizabeth taylor i loved first of all how this book was dedicated to his mother. he has a poem called "mother" in the book - some of it says, "...you gave me joy and position, cared for me without condition, and if ever i change this world, it's from the emotions you've unfurl'd." what a neat poem! i'd love one of my kids to write to me that way one day! in one of his reflections, this one on God, he says, "for me the form God takes is not the most important thing. what's most important is the essence. my songs and dances are outlines for Him to come in and fill." and in another part, "i've looked up at the night sky and beheld the stars so intimately close, it was as if my grandmother had made them for me. 'how rich, how sumptuous,' i thought. in that moment i saw God in His creation." one quote that i extemely like of mj's in another one of his reflections is, "this world we live in is the dance of the creator." the cover flap sums it up well when it reads, "...this incredible, inspirational man who died as he lived - dancing his dream." i highly suggest this book for anyone to read - esp fans of mj who want to get a perspective of went on inside his head and how creative he could be in expressing that. awesome color photos in here too!

'I keep on dancing and dancing...........and dancing, until there is only............the dance'. MICHAEL JACKSON.
Michael Jackson was a genius, an incredible man of many talents, from artist, dancer, choreographer, composer, singer, writer, and poet, as he shows so commandingly in this beautiful hardback book. I have bought it (and read it several times) to donate it to libraries, schools and hospitals to spread the knowledge about this amazing man, who was also Dr.Jackson with an IQ of 160, apparently to rival that of Albert Einstein! He was awarded an honorary degree for his humanitarian efforts in 1988 from the Fisk University in New York. Not only was he good to look at, so were his mind's creations to read. This becomes instantly obvious from his deep spiritual philosophies in his forty-six essays and stories interspersed with over ninety such attractive photographs of him in action, and drawings. Many cleverly constructed phrases included are well known now which come from some of his song lyrics and poetry, like 'Heal the World', 'Planet Earth' and 'Will You Be There?' He wrote this in 1992 when he was only 34, yet bravely explored concepts like Trust, Innocence, Courage, Love and God. I particularly loved 'When Babies Smile', 'Ecstasy' and 'Quantum Leap' with his brilliant use of language and rhyme; also 'Magical Child', 'Once We Were There;, and 'Are You Listening?' which lift me up and take me to another place. One person who had a very high regard for him was the late famous Elizabeth Taylor who called him The King of Pop, Rock and Soul' in the Introduction.. The only criticisms I have are in the Introduction where a sentence is printed wrongly, split onto two lines, and a misprint in ''Magical Child' Part 2' where a line ends in the word 'play' when I think it should be 'ploy' to rhyme with 'destroy'. Otherwise the work is breathtakingly inspirational, a perfect possession for anyone, fan or not.

Look for the Real Michael
Writings by Michael... personal reflections. Some, apparently, were lyrics in process, because we encounter them also in songs. Forgive me for my judgement, but much of the poetry/lyric material contains crude rhyming that mars the beauty of the intent. He included illustrations with many of the writings. (They are commissioned art, for the most part, but a few are Michael's own drawings. All of them are lovely.) There are many photos included... evidently ones Michael cherished as exemplifying of his ideal self-image, his beauty, his grace as a dancer, his performance highlights. Some are uncomfortable for me because they portray Michael's drive to create feminine beauty in himself, and I never understood that. For example, in one strikingly gorgeous facial shot, he's covered his surgically revised face in beautiful black lace and he's wearing delicate women's make-up. In many portrait photos he's wearing elaborate, period costumes... like a throned king, dressed all in red velvet and gold. His gold crown is sitting crooked on his head and he's grinning mischievously. All of the photos are wonderful to see if you love Michael. They are subject to much interpretation in the eye of the beholder. For me (and I do love Michael) I suspect that to a degree, the writings and photos were contrived to be image-enhancing, not only for the sake of the public but also for Michael himself. At the same time they ARE truly personal. I believe that is Michael's riddle. He was knitted from a fabric of vanity, talent, grace, humor, shrewdness, fragility, dreams, innocence, spirituality, insecurities and vision. I wouldn't presume to attempt to unravel that. Sometimes we glimpse spiritual insights from Michael about his reincarnation, his soul's life mission, the eternal nature of the soul and unconditional human love. My heart and gut tell me that these are sincere and valid. I know he has touched me in strange, deep ways far beyond "fan-hood". I have no idea why this is so. I guess it's true for you as well, or you would not be considering this book. Read it. Find your own truths in it.

Incredible and beautiful
This book really healed and inspired me during a rough time in my life. Growing up in the 90s of course I knew about and admired Michael, but it wasn’t until 2016 that he overtook my life and I realized how truly beautiful a person that he was, and how similar we were. His poetry is so true, and soulful. One really understands the man behind the fame and destruction. He was a light that shinned so brightly. He was a man of many talents and had a pure heart of love. I wish that I could have met him. But by reading this book, I feel like I really do know him. And the line about dancing the dream……is just incredible. Michael was otherworldly.

Best $40 ever spent
Living in Tokyo now, had to ship it all the way over here. But it's the best $40 I've ever spent. The quality is amazing. I've always been a fan of MJ since I was little, now when I'm older I have deeper understanding about his life, his childhood, his thinking, and of course his legend. The poems are so beautifully written, and really show you how mindful and pure Michael was. It's been almost 12 years since MJ left us, but his kindness and caring and legacy will live on FOREVER. Highly recommend the book!

bought it as a gift
I bought this for my mother, she's been wanting it for a long time, and loves the book. I haven't read it myself yet, but I've looked through it. It is filled with poems, stories, photos and more, that any MJ fan would be thrilled to have. I got it at a great price, and arrived in excellent condition. I'm very happy that my mother loves it, and it shipped very fast from overseas. Money well spent to make my mother happy.

STUPENDO!
Cosa posso dire?

A avoir absolument!
RIP MJ.
