Hanks is Forrest Gump, who despite being mentally challenged, tried hard, is honest and places his trust in luck. He tells his life story to anyone who sits next to him at a bus stop, and the flashbacks follow Forrest and his good heart through some of the highlights of modern American history. Through the use of digital imagery, Forrest appears to interact in scenes with John F. Kennedy, John Lennon and George Wallace. "Life is like a box of chocolates. "

A classic worth rewatching
Classic movie that I had to see again. It never gets old.Forrest Gump follows the life of a kind-hearted man with a low IQ who unwittingly influences major historical events across decades, all while staying true to his values and the love of his life, Jenny. It’s a tear-jerking, heartwarming, and sometimes sad but beautiful movie that stays with you long after the credits roll. Filled with unforgettable quotes and moments, it’s both inspiring and emotional. No matter how many times I watch it, it always hits just right.

Feel good, sometimes tear jerker movie.
This movie came out in 1994, but I never had the chance to see it. I did see several small clips that caught my attention, but never sat to watch the whole thing. I was talking with some friends about some movies they saw and this title came up. They insisted that I see it, saying that I would not be disappointed. I ordered it on Amazon for a very reasonable price and sat down on a Saturday evening to watch it. I have to admit that it started off a little slow at the beginning, but began to pick up speed as it played on. The story is based on a novel by Winston Groom about a slow-witted young boy that did not let his minor handicap hold him back. As the movie played on I found myself being drawn into the character. I won't spoil the ending, but this is one of those feel good movies that everyone talks about. I definitely recommend picking this one up and seeing it with a close friend.

Fantastic Transfer of an All Time Great Movie
I'm not really sure what I can say about this movie. If you haven't seen it before, you're doing yourself a huge disservice. I believe it was released my sophomore year in high school and I probably watched it 20 times that year. I annoyed the he'll out of a lot of my friends, because any time a group of us were hanging at my house, if someone in the group hasn't seen it that's what we watched. So quite a few of my friends were forced to sit through more viewings than they cared to. I make no apologies, it's worth more than 1 viewing. This is 1 of those movies that you stop and watch every time you catch it while you're flipping through your channel guide, even though you own it in multiple formats already. It's 1 of those movies that if you haven't seen it in over a year or so you feel compelled to throw it in and watch. The story is fantastic. The soundtrack is perfect. Tom Hanks is unbelievable (can you possibly fathom, even for a brief instant, anyone else playing Gump)? The only negative thing that I can say about this movie is, as great as it was, it didn't deserve the best picture Academy Award it won. Only because competition was ridiculous that year and I believe without question that Pulp Fiction should have won. But I won't get into that argument.I'm not going to give a book report for you guys and go into details about the plot, not only do I personally hate reviews that do that, but in this case I find it hard to believe that anyone reading this isn't already familiar with the plot. But I will say the blu ray transfer is fantastic. Now I'm no expert on picture quality, so there could be some fine details that the videophiles are always talking about that I don't notice. But just using the "eye test" I didn't regret my purchase in the least. I had just bought the samsung js8500 4k suhd tv before watching this, so I'm not comparing it directly with the same hardware I watched the dvd on, but I think that watching on a superior tv would reveal more flaws if they were there, and I didn't notice any. The sound transfer also sounded great, albeit not on the greatest sound system. I'm using the vizio 5.1 wireless soundbar setup. If you haven seen this movie yet and you're older than 16, then you have no excuse and I really don't know what to say to you. If you're just wondering if this transfer is worth your money, I'd have to answer with a resounding yes. Hope this helps.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
My son came to me asking to rent the movie Forrest Gump, and I wasn't surprised. I can understand why it grabbed his attention. The story of Forrest’s incredible life, full of unexpected twists and heartfelt moments. My son was especially taken by Forrest's determination and kindness, and it led to some really great discussions about how important it is to be kind and stay true to yourself, no matter what life throws your way. Always a good watch since 1994. This movie never gets old!

🎬 A New Year’s Eve Tradition with Heart 🕛
Forrest Gump isn’t just a movie in our house—it’s a tradition. Every New Year’s Eve, we cue it up and time it so that Lieutenant Dan rings in the new year with us. There’s something special about starting the year with a story that’s so full of heart, humor, and hope. The movie itself is timeless—Tom Hanks is incredible, and Forrest’s journey through life is a reminder of how beautiful the unexpected can be. From “Run, Forrest, run!” to shrimp boats and park benches, we laugh, cry, and quote along every year. It’s the perfect mix of nostalgia and meaning, and it never gets old. Watching it together to count down to midnight has become one of our favorite family traditions. Here’s to another year with Forrest and Lieutenant Dan! 🥂
