Eneloop Panasonic BK-3HCCA8BA pro AA High Capacity Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries, 8-Battery Pack

What I like They hold their charge well. Low self-discharge is the reason a charged spare can remain useful instead of becoming another battery that needs charging before use. They work across the house. I use them regularly in game controllers and broadly in AA-powered devices. They last for years in my rotation. I have been buying the line for about 12 years, adding another pack every three to five years. They arrive precharged. They can go into service immediately rather than making a new-battery purchase begin with a charging session. The 12-pack is a practical quantity. It is enough to feed several devices and maintain charged spares without buying an industrial-sized box. They can be analyzed and refreshed. When a cell seems weak, a capable charger can measure it and occasionally recover some useful performance. What annoys me I do not have a specific complaint from my years using them. They have done what I bought them to do, which is why I continue buying the same line. There are technical caveats. Eneloops are nominally 1.2V, while a fresh alkaline AA begins around 1.5V. Most AA devices tolerate that difference because alkaline voltage falls during use while NiMH voltage stays comparatively steady. Some devices with strict voltage requirements or poorly calibrated battery indicators may behave differently, and Panasonic specifically warns that certain waterproof or airtight devices may be unsuitable. It is also better to use matched cells together. Panasonic advises against mixing rechargeable and disposable batteries, or mixing cells of different brands, capacities, ages, and charge states in one device. If a controller uses two batteries, use two similarly charged Eneloops rather than one fresh rechargeable and one random alkaline from the drawer. Finally, “up to 2,100 cycles” is a standardized test result, not a promise that a household cell will survive 2,100 years of mistakes. Heat, over-discharge, charging behavior, storage, and device load all affect real life. Buy them because they are dependable rechargeable AAs, not because you expect to count to 2,100. Who they are for, and who should skip them Buy Eneloop AAs if your house regularly consumes AA batteries in controllers, remotes, lights, toys, radios, or similar devices. They make the most sense when you can keep a charger and a small battery rotation in one place. The more often you would otherwise buy disposable AAs, the easier the recommendation becomes. Skip them if you use so few AAs that a pack of alkalines lasts for years and you do not want to own a charger. Also check the device manual when equipment explicitly requires 1.5V cells, has an airtight battery compartment, or warns against NiMH chemistry. Verdict Panasonic Eneloop AAs have been my default rechargeable batteries for about 12 years. I buy another pack every few years, use them throughout the house, occasionally refresh a weak one, and otherwise do not have to think much about them. Grade: A. Buy the 12-pack if rechargeable AA batteries make sense in your house.

Many years ago I wanted to go rechargeable for all my in house devices. I started with the white and black Eneloops. The Eneloops I have back from 2015 still are working in 2022. I've bought more over the years of course too. The black ones can charge 500 or so times, the white ones over 2,000 times. Now, if you charged a battery once a week, it would take 10 years to charge around 500 times. The black ones do have a bit more 'fuel in the tank', and are better for devices like cameras; but overall, the white ones have seemed basically just as good to me for most uses. And they are like half the cost. And they can be charged 4x more. So, decide what you want / need. Both the black and white versions work great. I use the black ones in more 'high demand' devices (flashlights, portable fan, etc.), and the white ones in less demanding devices (like remotes, mice/keyboards, etc.). Haven't had a single issue. I use their 4 port charger (model BQ-CC17). I have two of them that I got with 4 packs of batteries. So, I can easily charge 8 batteries in a few hours. Very easy to keep all my batteries topped up. I have one bin for full batteries, and one for empty; and I just charge them whenever I have time. I haven't bought one time use batteries in about a decade, and I don't plan to ever again. If you are thinking of going rechargeable, these are a great way to start. You get quality that will last, which is the point of going rechargeable in the first place. I have tried many other brands as well, most had issues over time. The Eneloops just keep on going. I will say the Amazon brand batteries have also been great. All have kept working for years and they hold a good long charge and seem good quality as well.

These are excellent rechargeable batteries, perfect for every application. These batteries can go anywhere. These are a much better value than some lithium ion varieties available from competitors. They are easy to charge with the Panasonic chargers available. They are the same size as a traditional AA battery.

I love eneloop batteries! I use them in everything and they charge quickly with the fast charger unit. I use them mostly in my Xbox One X controllers and they last for a long time. I always have 4 extra in that charger just in case I have someone over and need to swap more than one set out. In the other charger I also have 4 on my nightstand that I use in my roku controller. I use the headphones on the roku controller almost daily, I rarely watch the bedroom tv without the headphones on and the roku controller goes through batteries pretty quick. Before I got eneloop and only had normal AA batteries, I was draining quality AA in a day or 2 of heavy TV use. I used a few other rechargeables we had and they didnt last either. After swapping to eneloop pro I can get 2 to 4 days depending on how much use. I am disabled so I do use them a lot in the roku remote. I tried the normal eneloops and they get more recharges but they drained faster also so I prefer the pro's. I did notice a few of the batteries will show up az 75% charged if I swap out for fresh charged and check the roku's remote battery level. I dont see any difference in use time so Im not sure how accurate that reading actually is. I read online that its possible the battery just needz to be reset but that requires an old school charger and a few steps that I didnt fully grasp how it would fix it, and I dont have an old school charger so I cant verify if it works. Anyway I use Eneloop exclusively now, I bought a large mixed size kit for my father and mother to use in their stuff (we own a large home together) and my dad loves them too. All in all I have 3, 4 battery quick charge wall chargers, 1 black pro charger and 2 white normal quick chargers (they all charge the same except the black only shows 4 green dots while charging and the white chargers have an led color system showing the stage each battery is in. After charging is complete, the chargers shut off), after charged the batteries hold their charge extremely well. These are bar none the absolute best rechargeable batteries you will ever buy, unless they are dethroned in the future. Every major trusted review source I have read agrees with my opinion as well. I don't expect anyone to trust some guys opnion on the net but if you do decide to buy them, I truly do not think you will be disappointed. I have been using these batteries exclusivley for 4 or 5 years now and am beyond pleased with their performance. I am writing this review by my own free will because I love the product and have no affiliation with Panasonic, nor have I recieved anything from Panasonic free or trial for any reason.

I've used the same AA and AAA Eneloop Pro batteries for almost 5 years. They are higher capacity and longer lasting than alkaline batteries I've used in their place. I have used them in remotes, wireless keyboards & mice, Xbox controllers, flashlights, and metal detectors. I paid a little more for these because they are made in Japan. They recharge as quick as you want but I typically charge at 300ma/h for AAA and 500ma/h for AA to maintain a balance between charge rate and charge cycles. So far, they are not showing any noticeable reduction in capacity or resistance. They are a little heavier and slightly larger diameter than alkalines but they still fit in anything I have. If you want to save money, stop buying disposable alkaline batteries and get these. I spent a fare amount of money on these batteries and a good charger but they have paid for themselves twice over in less than 5 years and they are still going.

These batteries are not worth the price. These batteries perform mediocre AT BEST. Meaning, these batteries work like the cheaper AA Ni-MH batteries. No measurable increase in capacity (mAh) and the volatge (1.2V rating as stated) is just OK not extraordinary. Basically I do not know or understand the 'Pro' name in this eneloop brand. Now, don't get me wrong. These batteries ARE GOOD, they just aren't GREAT therefore NOT WORTH THE PRICE ! ! I feel ripped off or swindled. I've used many brands of Ni-MH and all the various sizes as well. I've been buying (regular Costco) eneloop batteries for years. Decided to give the "Pro" series a try. It SUCKS ....not because it doesn't work but because you're paying more for the same "bleepin' bleep". I'm not returning it because I have integrity. I've used the batteries already (which is how I've come to my review conclusions). I know better now. Buyer Beware ! **sigh** Yes, that goes for Panasonic batteries even if they're Made in Japan and in original packaging. Come to think of it ... I also could've been given 10 year old batteries that sat on a shelf somewhere in Death Valley. The condition of the 'original' packaging (as shown in picture) looked like it was opened, glued back, got wet, then dried, had spider web residue, dusty/dirty and just bent out of shape due to the 'apparent' age of the 8-Pk cardboard packaging. So, if you DO decide to buy these batteries and get get similar-looking packaging - return it right away. Okay, originally gave this 2 Stars. I bought TWO 8-Pack AA Eneloop Pro batteries. I forgot to mention one ODD tidbit of information. The second package (not mentioned above) was absolutey Excellent in Quality (yah ! Go Figure). Great capacity, Great voltage, Great Charge Duration, Consistent recharge times - Just Wonderful . . . Just what I expect from Panasonic Eneloop batteries. Oh well.

First of all I'd like to say that I like these batteries. Having recently gotten back into flash photography I've had an explosion in the number of batteries I've needed. Having not purchased any NiMH batteries for about 15 years I did a little research and found that these batteries came highly recommended. Let me begin with a little background on what led my decision. First, these batteries come precharged. This may seem insignificant but it implies two things. First of all they are ready to use out of the packaging: considering even a fast charger takes about 3 hours this is a boon for the impatient. The second implication is that they hold their charge on the shelf well (quoted at 85% capacity after 1 year, 70% capacity after 5 years). Given that my historic experience with NiMH was that they would lose 50% of their charge within about a month this is excellent. This matters a lot for me as I have 4 camera flashes that I use but 2 see far more use than the others but I know that, assuming I left them with some charge, the others will be good to go. The second factor is voltage. When fresh they given about 1.35V and their voltage stays relatively consistent through their discharge cycle down to about 1.2V. This is in contrast to an alkaline which typically starts at about 1.6V but drops rapidly through the discharge cycle until empty. For most purposes the voltage is sufficient (though some older devices may report "low battery") and goes along with the next factor. A typical alkaline's effective capacity decreases proportional to the current draw and provides less consistent voltage. The effective capacity of a NiMH remains relatively stable irrespective of the current draw as does the voltage. This means that for high current draw applications (such as a camera flash) the voltage doesn't dip causing the device to stop functioning temporarily or result in reduced effective life. The ability to deliver high current (low internal resistance) also means that in a device like a camera flash the recycle time is much shorter than with alkalines and doesn't drop as much as the battery discharges. Finally onto capacity. A flash is a spiky, high current drain on a battery which for many cell types is a worst case. I don't have a good point of comparison here, but when I tried some of these on remote triggers at matched power output vs alkalines; these had shown no dip in performance by the time the alkalines were reduced to unusable cycle times. I was also able to use them about the same amount the following day before needing to recharge suggesting that for my use case I get twice the usable life vs an alkaline. Overall these batteries work very nicely. I haven't compared them to the competition but having read some analysis by people who have, my informal assessment that these are high in performance, durability and capacity is echoed.

As a professional photographer, these are the best rechargeable batteries I’ve ever found. For years I’ve kept multiple sets to rotate in my flashes & gear & have never had to throw a set away. I can’t remember when I bought the first set but it’s been at least 7 years. And I can shoot an entire wedding on one charge.
