Excellent Choice
This is a big boy, but it is much faster than some of the popular competitors that claim lifetime updates and full function capabilities. I don’t like the larger size, but I like the larger size. I wasn’t looking for a 10 inch screen, but now that I have it, my eyes love it. Some competitors tout lifetime updates and make promises to include new features, then they roll back on those promises. XTOOL has been very clear on their update policy and the abilities of the tool to continue to work after the subscription period. XTOOL includes topology on their product along with many other features that others do not include. In fact some tools will tell you that you must have an active subscription in order to use premium features. So far I am very pleased with my purchase. I did spend more than I planned on, but I feel I ended up with a better product. Video to follow in the coming weeks. I chose the D(S PRO because of its enhanced capabilities, Topology, large screen, key programming capabilities and AI assistance. This is the second XTOOL that I own. I also have a A30M which is great for the quick hits and working in the field. I will say the D9S PRO has a HUGE dongle, but because of that it is very fast. One last thing, the kit came with a lot of additional cables and accessories.

Awesome upgrade - Huge vehicle coverage - best bang for the buck scanner.
I’ve been in Mobile Mechanic down here in Hot South Florida for about 10 years and this scanner is a huge upgrade to my diagnostic tooling. And the D8, which is like the step down from this one for about three years and this one just blows it away, especially on the euro cars like Mercedes and Bmw’s. Bluetooth Range is one of the best things I can walk around with it. Sit in my truck in the Air Conditioning, like 30 or 40 feet away, or even further without losing connections, which is awesome when it’s 90 to 100° outside. They upgraded the charging port to USB-C so it works with everything I have instead of having to bring along with that independent charger, which is a huge upgrade. I have even use my Anchor 40 W power bank to charge it while I was working on a long day wirelessly when the battery was low. Your battery lasts pretty much all day though, but it’s nice to have the option to charge it off of power bank with USB-C. They have new AI stuff. It seems pretty helpful but I haven’t used it much. What I really love about this is the ability to program all the different modules back up the data off of an entire car and then dump the data back on the modules instantly. I’ve been using the module programming almost every day, and it saved me and made me a lot of money, not having to sub it out or call somebody that I could. Being able to program Mercedes has been a huge huge deal for me because the Body Shop I work with pretty much only deals with olders Mercedes, 2004-2016 ish. So far after almost a month it’s been great. No complaints at all. I only had one issue with updating the VCA Software and the support guys got back to me in like 1-2 hours max so I didn’t have to lose a day waiting on that. That alone saved me 600 bucks not having any downtime. the support guys are really good. I’d recommend this to any Mechanic mobile or in a shop that’s looking for something that’s way cheaper than the name brand stuff and has the same coverage and functionality at half the price.

No doubt, this is the absolute best in it's class, hands down...
I’ve been a fan of Xtool diaganostic scanners since I moved away from using my previous consumer-level but high quality parts-store scanners, on to the professional equipment OBD-2 diagnostic tools. After much research, I chose to go with Xtool for a number of reasons. I am not a professional auto technician, but have been working on my personal vehicles which have included many makes such as Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Dodge, Jeep, Toyota, etc, along with family and friends vehicles, etc., as a hobby for over 30 years. To better understand my perspective: I am a professional researcher, information systems technologist and technical writer, so I am quite passionate and potentially a bit compulsive when researching major purchases! It can take me days to weeks of research because I want to be sure that I am making the correct choices based on my immediate and potential future needs as well. Ideally, when using technologies of any type, it's a good idea to future-proof your investment! Through this process, I have determined Xtool to be at the forefront of the market for which they serve. That is, from the novice to the advanced professional-level of diagnostics and repair. I have purchased and owned (4) of their products thus far, including the endoscope, D8, D8-BT, and now the D9 Pro. Each scan tool offers a higher level feature-set. The D9-Pro appears to stand out in having the highest number of Special Service Functions capabilities, along with the longest update terms of any other competitor in this class of tools. In addition, I continue to purchase their products because they provide the most solid and extensive features, update policy, and warranty, but most importantly customer service, in comparison to their competitors. Their customer service is responsive and provides outstanding product support, especially through this particular Amazon seller. You can actually purchase this product from several Amazon and/or Ebay sellers, but be very careful because they are not equal in terms of knowledge nor after-sales support. Some are not official sellers of the product and do not have a direct relationship with the manufacturer. This is very important. The developers are constantly providing updates which consist or new features, special functions, updates, etc. I once had a problem with a feature that was not working for my Mercedes E-550 Turbo Cabriolet. I contacted the this Amazon seller, Evy, which is actually a (tier-2 support) person with direct communications with the company. Within two-days, she was able to get a beta update sent directly to my (D9-Pro) that actually worked, the first time! On another occasion with the (D8-BT), that I typically let family members borrow (yeah I’m very generous), she was able to arrange for an Xtool technologist to connect with me (remotely) and view my screen to provide hands-on testing and support. As a professional technologist in the information technology field trust me when I say that this is extremely impressive and an important factor to consider. To avoid any potential problems and assure that you get the top tier support from such a considerable investment, be sure to purchase from the Xtool Store here on Amazon if you decide to purchase an Xtool product. This D9 is the best bang for the buck in my humble opinion.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Unsupported
I did many hours of research to choose this tool. It supported secure gateway and I was able to link to the autoauth website allowing me to unlock the secure gateway. The xtool website claims that many ECUs are supported for Diagnose for a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. I was particular interested in the PLGM, ADAS, DDM, and PDM modules. The Xtool website confirmed that those are able to be diagnosed by the D9S Pro. However, the actual report attached shows many ECUs not even scanned. I know for a fact that my vehicle has a PLGM, a DDM, PDM module, for example. A NT510 Elite was able to query those ECUs. The NT510 Elite does not have secure gateway capability. I went through all the normal debugging steps before I went to xtool customer service. SW updates, factory reset, SW updates again. Nothing impacted the ability to diagnose the missing ECUs. I reached out in email first. I included the report from the D9S and also the report from the NT510. The response from xtool was to take a picture of the NT510e. They didn't take it seriously. So when xtool business hours reached the next day i called the US number for help. This was even more disappointing. There were 2 options: Press 1 for customer support, and press 2 for after sales support. I tried option 2 first. A recording told me there was a 0 minute wait time, then placed me on hold with music. After 10 to 15 minutes, i was transferred to an unnamed voicemail. I tried option 1 next which forwarded me to a voicemail which was full. Very disappointed that I wasted cyber Monday savings on this product. I do thank amazon for allowing me to return it for a full refund. This was returned in less than 24 hours of receiving. Update 31Mar26: I've been contacted by xtool with a reference to firmware updates to better support the Jeep Wagoneer. However, as I've returned the tool, I am unable to verify.

This is my 2nd XTool Device, What's nice is the easy to follow software. Very intuitive!
This was a bit more then I wanted to spend on a Scan Tool but being able to program modules was a big attraction to me. The way I figured was why pay someone to do something I could do myself and get a very nice tool in the process. I was already familiar with the XTool Software because I have an A30 BT Scanner I keep in my car. I also own several other scanners but find myself using that A30 on my car and other cars. I have other similar scanners but I like the XTool A30 a lot. I also own a couple of other high level bidirectional scanners that I enjoy using but recently the level of customer support was less than stellar. I bought this unit to allow me to program things that may fail in the future. So I have more things to learn but what impressed me the most was a very simple email I received from XTool informing me of a few things I did not fully realize I had purchased which was even more interesting. I got to play with the scanner and so far so good. While there is nothing wrong with my old beater of a car its always nice to check from time to time just to make sure things are as they should be and if not to address them before they become a bigger issue which is what a scan tool will help you with. Only thing worth noting is while all the adaptors are labeled the labels are hard to read well for me anyway so I have to add labels to the adaptors so I can easily and quickly identify the ones I need to use. Some I will never use but it's nice they are there because never say never.
