Is the ironing mat needed?

No. It is foremost a rotating cutting mat. However, if you need a small piece of fabric ironed, you have a mat which will fit over the existing mat.

How do you use moisture to heal the cut marks?

For a self-healing mat you soak the mat for about an hour in room temperature water. I've read conflicting accounts on whether this mat is self healing. Also, with the added non-slip undercoating, I don't know whether it would hold up to soaking it in water. If it is a self-healing mat, I would spray it with fine mist of room temperature water and leave it for a while then dry the mat.

Is the mat self healing like the omnigrid?

Hello, the mat is green and looks like this other green (incl. Omnigrid) cutting mats. We cut lots of Orange Peel parts on this mat and we cannot see any damage.I hope this has helped. Kind regards Dorothea Racine

It is not a self healing mat like some other mats are, but you can use Martelli and regular cutters on it. It works well.
