This is a very good H&T device
I am a software developer. I spent a lot of time reviewing different devices, interfaces and their specifications. I wrote software to manage this device, including RPC, Bluetooth and MQTT. I am also very experienced in the dynamics of environmental monitoring for residential and commercial buildings. In my opinion this is an excellent humidity and temperature monitor at a low cost for home automation. The interfaces are well documented, easy to work with and there are numerous open-source implementations and libraries available. If you are a non-developer or a home automation user, this device will monitor humidity and temperature and perform well. I have read comments regarding long times to report changes. Temperature and humidity do not change rapidly in normal residential or commercial environments. If you require fast change detection, you are designing for a problem this device is not intended for. This device reports on wakeup every six minutes. The reason is to save battery life. That is sufficient in normal environments. If you require fast response times, select a different type of device that is plugged into a power source and reports continuously. The device will need to support rapid temperature and humidity changes and those types of instruments are much more expensive. The big issue is accuracy when detecting changes. It does no good to use a cheap device that reports every 5 seconds if the changes are only +-20% accurate. Accuracy requires either time or money.

doesn't work unless plugged in - don't believe what the manufacturer claims
The setup times out in 3 minutes. in that 3 minutes you have to connect to its local device wifi with your phone. that takes at least a minute. then you have to use the remaining 2 minutes to get it onto your house wifi and while you were about to do that third thing, nope it went to sleep again. no way to change this sleep setting. once you get it all "working" it will not update the temp on the screen or broadcast any changes if it's not plugged in to usb-c. no idea why this thing takes batteries. with batteries it's just frozen. they say it updates if the temp changes enough but i set it on my server that is very hot but the (not plugged in - on battery) screen sat frozen at 77.8 degrees for 5 minutes. the instant I plugged in the usb-c it jumped to 84.8 degrees. garbage. do a web search - everyone has similar problems.

Solid but Set up can be tricky.
Set up was tough. First you connect to its own wifi signal that it puts out to set it up it's parameters. It shows a list of available wifis to connect to, set up static IP etc .. Then it connects to your network wifi and your all done, however I couldn't get it to connect to my wifi. Time after time it simply would not grab. Finally I manually entered my wifi ssid instead of selecting from a drop down list and it took. It's been running for a few weeks flawless and solid.

Good reliable hygrometer for Home Assistant
Pretty accurate hygrometer with great e-paper (e-ink?) display. Display is large enough to read everything clearly without my glasses and set up was fairly easy. Bought this unit because of the flexibility to take batteries for power or use USB cable to power the unit as we didn’t want to replace or recharge batteries frequently, in addition to good display. Knocked off 1 star because USB cable needs to be removed every time the back cover needs to be removed to sync. Sync/reset button is under the battery cover, and the cover cannot be removed without unplugging USB cable. (Only required during initial setup) Shouldn’t be a problem for those who choose batteries. Specifically bought this unit to hook it up with Home Assistant with Shelly plugin and it did not disappoint. Picked it up fine and reading well over WiFi. The price of this unit is about the same as other WiFi Hygrometers on the market, but can be expensive if we wanted this throughout the house. But for the reliability so far of Shelly products, we’d definitely consider this unit again.

Locally controlled temp/humidity sensor for Pushing (not Polling)
I have three of these. I just have them hit a local web server and report temperature and humidity. If you want something to poll, this isn't what you are looking for. They instead only connect to wifi and "push" data when the temperature or humidity changes. I suspect thats due to it running on AA batteries, and trying to get good battery life. As long as you are okay with that, then these work great. I'm using one to check outdoor temperature, and one to monitor the temperature of my dog house. I have the web server kick on a local power switch when it gets too cold, which kicks on a 200w panel heater (designed for chickens) and warms the dog house. Then I have it kick off when it gets too hot. The dog appreciates it when its super cold out. I have it kick on at 55 and off at 65. I wouldn't want to use it for too narrow of a temperature range though because I've seen it wait until 53 to turn on and it sometimes stays on a few degrees higher then 65. I prefer Shelley devices since they can be used without cloud involvement and they are good for hobbyists that find no reason to send sensor data all the way to a data center just so local devices can then reach back out to the data center to act upon the data. When you have everything working locally, response times are in the millisecond range instead of the second range (which can grow to the minutes range during high usage).

Do not use for MQTT or home automation applications.
When operating on battery power, the device only publishes MQTT messages every two hours. When plugged in, it is supposed to report every five minutes. It is also advertised to report whenever the temperature changes by more than 0.5°C. To test this, I placed it in the refrigerator to trigger a temperature change, but it did not send an update. My intended use case was to integrate it with a Raspberry Pi running Node-RED. I was able to successfully parse the MQTT data; however, the device only transmitted data when I physically pressed the button on the back. There are no settings available in the web UI to adjust the MQTT reporting interval. Additionally, accessing the local web interface is inconvenient. You must press the button on the device first, then quickly enter the device’s IP address in your browser and hope it connects before the device returns to sleep mode. I would not recommend this device for home automation applications.

Great device for the specific use case requiring only battery power.
Works great and connected easily to wifi. I wanted to monitor temperature and humidity where connecting to mains power is not an option. Also I wanted to monitor temperature and humidity remotely via wifi. This device fills the bill perfectly. There are a couple of quirks due to the battery power saving design. It only updates when a specific temperature or humidity change is exceeded. You can set the sensitivity to change but setting the limits too tight will affect battery life. Also when you make a setup change or update firmware that will not occur on the device until a transmit cycle is triggered by conditions changing. You can trigger it to transmit by pushing the update button which is accessible after you remove the battery cover.

Not great for my use case. Frustratingly inconsistent connections.
Don't love these. I got these as remote monitors for home assistant, mainly because they're battery powered and claim to have good battery life (1+ years). They problem is I feel like they're geared towards in person viewing instead. So - if you're just looking for a temp/humidity sensor to put on your desk or counter top (although I genuinely don't actually know why you'd want this) this device is nice. The screen is e-ink and easy to read, and the display is big and readable from a distance. It gets a solid A+ grade for in person usage. That said... if you're looking for a remote space monitor (in my case, attic and crawlspace) I'd recommend not buying these. They get the good battery life by simply not connecting... pretty much at all. The way the connection works is: They connect for ~60 seconds at startup, and then completely disable the radio for either 12 hours, or (supposedly) until either the temp changes by .5 degrees, or the humidity changes by 5%. Personally, I don't see the value changes properly updating over matter to HA. Instead, what I see is a device that randomly reports values once or twice a day, and is otherwise listed as "offline" ALL THE TIME. Want to use the shelly app to view it? Sorry, the device is offline there too. Want to change a setting? Sorry, the device is offline, the setting change will apply next time it wakes up. When is that? F*&% if you get to know. Some time. At some point. Maybe. If it works. Functionally - this means the device is basically unresponsive for remote monitoring. The only way to deterministically change settings (seriously, I'm not joking here) is to go fetch the device - Pop the back off with a coin/screwdriver - and press the reset button. Which resets it to the 60 window you know the radio is on. Then you KEEP PRESSING that button, at least 1 time every minute while you try to configure it. Then you put it back, and within 10 minutes Home assistant and the shelly app list it as offline again, and you stop getting visible readings. Even if you power it from USB, it does this. Which is the biggest letdown here. Seems like they crammed too much radio into the space with no venting, and keeping the radio on messes with the temp sensor enough to throw the readings off. Frankly - I'd much rather have a device twice the size and with half the battery life that actually reports on a consistent cadence. This one is just frustratingly bad for remote monitoring. Unusual miss from Shelly - I normally am quite happy with their stuff.

Io lo uso per controllare condizionatori samsung tramite app smart things (alexa non è in grado di far partire i miei condizionatori in modalità riscaldamento). Note: 1) Scaricate Shelly Cloud e configurate il dispositivo (rete wifi da usare). 1) Dategli un IP STATICO tramite la pagina di configurazione del modem (anche ai condizionatori/deumidificatori/umidificatori) altrimenti ogni tanto si sconnetterà dalla rete e se non siete in casa non lo potete riconnettere). 3) Abilitate il cloud in Shelly Cloud. Il dispositivo manda al cloud dati periodici (se alimentato a batteria ne manda molti meno) e segnali legati alle soglie impostate riguardo alla variazione di temperatura e umidità. Mettete soglie basse o non comunicherà mai con la rete e di conseguenza non partira la gestione dei dispositivi da comandare. 3) il dispositivo sta in modalità sospensione per la maggior parte del tempo e riceve le vostre impostazioni solo quando esce da tale modalità, ossia solo quando si connette al cloud. Per fare un invio forzato al cloud bisogna aprire il coperchio e premere il pulsante set. In questo modo si connetterà al cloud e riceverà anche tutte le nuove istruzioni riguardo alle routine e alle impostazioni interne gestibili da Shelly Cloud. 4) Se alimentato tramite usb, serve alimentatore da 5V. Quelli con uscita doppia (9 e 5V) non vengono riconosciuti, perlomeno a me succede questo. 5) disattivate il bluetooth del dispositivo dall app Shelly Cloud se non vi serve, le batterie ringrazieranno. Serve un po' di pratica all inizio...

ok con Home Assistant
preso perchè Shelly è parecchio indicato ed attivo con Home-assistant, infatti è stato riconosciuto subito con dispositivo ed entità. Le batterie non sono presenti (4 AA) così come non è presente un alimentatore e cavo usb-c. Lo sto usando con le batterie, è meno reattivo ma nel complesso non è una tragedia, il check avviene un paio di volte l'ora come minimo. Attenzione perché da qualche parte avevo letto "plus" che indica il fatto di poter fare da gateway ai modelli Blue, questo non è vero nonostante abbia il bluetooth. Probabilmente errore mio, in ogni caso sappiate che non è presente questa funzione. Un po' scomodo il tasto di attivazione del web-server, che permette tra le cose anche di effettuare l'aggiornamento firmware. Questo talvolta va premuto ed è dentro la scocca a pressione. Vero che servirà una volta l'anno, ma potevano farlo meglio. Nel complesso sono soddisfatto, la misurazione per quanto testato è corretta, il display e-ink è bello da vedere e si legge bene.
