excellent buy
These are pretty simple and plain looking In-ear head phones. I picked these up on a whim. Not really expecting much out of them . What I found was that these ear phones actually sounded a lot better than some of my higher priced head phones. These are not the mighty low $$ head phones the will slay the mighty $ 80-150 head phone but ... These easily can go head to head with some of the higher priced in-ear phones that run up to 60$ price range like: V-MODA Metal , Klipsch Image S3 & S4 , Monster 133262 ,Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4 & Logitech Ultimate Ears 350vi. The cabling is done really well. It's a thick flat rubberized plastic that does not tangle much and can take some abuse. I've dropped my Cowon D2 about a dozen times while holding onto just the ear pieces to see if the wiring would come loose and everything staying intact. I can not say that for any of the Ultimate Ears. I'm currently using the headphones with a Nokia 920 , Samsung s3 & SGH-1917 phones , Cowon D2 & z2. The mic / play pause button does not work with the Cowon devices and does not work on Windows 7.5 or 8 phones. So the upsides to the EM1 are their price + performance / sound . the negatives for them are the pause / play button and mic do not work with Cowon & Windows OS phones. One tip I can give for any buyers out there who pick the Cowon EM1s up is to remove the ear pieces and then remove the black cloth / film that is covering the EM1's speaker area... this will get rid of the slight muffle sound you experience when you crank up the volume this will also increase the volume a bit too.

Good sound quality...
This is my first in-ear-canal earphone. The sound quality is really good. I also have Bose IE2 and I can comfortably say that Cowon made a good job here. But I had a little problem. When I listen something at low sound levels while walking or exercising, I here the sound of the cord, its friction, and it is really annoying. As I said, this is my first time with an "in-ear-canal earphone" and I don't know if this is normal. But it is really annoying.

Cowon EM1 the best pair of earphones in this prize range.
The best pair of earphones at the prize range and ever higher!! These are second pair(misplaced the first one). Been using them since a year and they never disappointed. The mid range is a little overpowering but the lows and highs are perfect. The bass is very balanced and doesn't overpower the music. The noise cancellation is very good too!! The cable is the best in these, it's a flat wire and doesn't get tangled even after placing them in the pocket! The mic is very responsive and clear during calls. For this prize don't think much. Just go for it!!

Some of the best headphones for the price
Some of the best headphones for the price. Mid range is a little over powering which can lead to the quality of sound being distorted at times, but for the cheap price its expected. Also really love the flat style of the chord, really prevents the chord from tangling. Would buy again when looking for a pair around $25.

I've got Panasonic earphones that were less than $8 and are many many times better than these
These cowon earphones are definitely not worth the price. They are very cheaply made and the sound is just alright. I've got Panasonic earphones that were less than $8 and are many many times better than these. I suppose the only good thing about these is the cord doesn't tangle.

Tough little guy with good sound for price.
Bought in 2016 Used for a year. Really good headest for the price. I am no audiophile so I can't really dissect the quality of each sound. Then again at the price range you shouldn't be. Performs well overall and the wires hold up very well under rough use. If you are someone like me who is careless enough to use it everywhere, go ahead and buy these.

FInally the product meeting my expectations
I was looking for a budget headphone for quite some time. I tried with House of Marley initially but the product didn't meet my expectations. The bass was too high and the mids and the highs were almost suppressed. I then tried with skullcandy S2DUDZ-003 in-ear headphone. Again it was pure disappointment. The treble was too much in skullcandy headphone almost hurting my ears. I then tried these headphone (after reading recommendations) and then ...Yes. These are the headphones I was looking for. The bass is really good (though I found it to be on higher side), the mids and highs are in proper proportion making listening a very pleasant experience. I however suggest to use different music player than the stock android player. I use player Pro with tweaked equalizer settings to match my taste. I tried other apps like N7, Shuffle, Equilizer+, but headphones sounds best with Player Pro (that too the older version) Anyone looking for budget headphone can go for this product

balanced sound but the branding is irksome stopped working after 3 months
This review is after 3 months of daily usage 1.brand and after sales: cowon is not a very popular brand worldwide, and speaking of warranty they come with 3 months limited warranty which is kind of impossible to claim* *Nearest service centre is Hong Kong If there is any problem after a month or two then you are done 2.build : all plastic build but fairy decent , superior than Skullcandy's on the same budget but somewhat inferior than Sennheiser cx180s 3.SOUND: one word STELLAR(if you are completely into sound then surely go for these) , Lows are average, mids and highs are good. 4.verdict: I've tried many budget IEMs like the Sennheiser cx180,house of Marley smile Jamaica, audiotechnica , etc etc but nothing comes near cowon em1 in terms of balanced sound

Pathetic Amazon Service, Bass-less headphone
I have been using amazon (US) for long, and never faced any issue with their service. This was second order from Amazon.in, and amazon gave a hard time. As the item failed to meet the expectation, the item had to be returned. Refund request was raised next day, item was delivered. Since then and now (1 month), I have been continually following up with amazon, to get the return picked up. As per amazon, the pick guy came once (my phone was not reachable and he left). After that, I followed up continually and always given false assurance that product would be picked up in 2-3 business days. 1 month gone, still following up on issue, no refunds :( Never expected this service, especially with 'Amazon fulfilled products' About the product. Looks good and premium. Definitely like the design and flat wires Sound quality - average. Bass is missing. Apart from that, sound quality is good. No Mic Comfortable fit in ear Low rating is for Amazon Service. For product, i would give 3.5. Had the BASS been better and a mic, it would have been a 5/5.

Great Quality, Performance & Pricing
This is one of the few earphones in the market that on a flat equalizer, give you kickass sound right out of the box. This is my second pair after I used and abused my first pair for 2 years. As usual, Amazon's delivery was on point. Pros: 1. Awesome soundstage 2. Great clarity 3. No muddy or boomy bass. If there's a kick in your song, you'll hear that kick as you should 4. No bloating of mids and no suppressed highs either. 5. The inline microphone is great for hands-free. Also, great call quality with my Android Phone Cons: Can't think of one. This is not a very high performance audiophile grade pair of earphones but to an absolute novice, it would somewhat be. I dunno if that makes sense to you but you know what I mean. Love Cowon's audio players and have preferred these earphones over anything from SoundMagic,Sennheiser and Creative for the 3rd year in a row.

Honest Review!
I have been using this earphone for 4 months. This is my experience- Bought the earphone after recommendation from a lot of people/reviews, I really had great expectations with the sound quality. It didn't live up to it. The sound quality was not bad but it wasn't as refined as I had thought it would be. In short, it didn't feel worth Rs700 investment, 400 would be a suitable price for the sound quality. I'm not gonna go into detail of sound quality because that's not where it failed me the most. The build quality, although it looks good, isn't durable. I'm usually very careful with my gadgets and take proper care of them, the fact that I have not dropped my phone even once (not even on soft surface) which I bought in Jan should be proof enough for you. Regardless of all the care, the sound quality deteriorated so much within a month that I had to send the earphone for RMA paying 70 bucks from my pocket. I still blamed it on myself thinking maybe I wasn't careful enough. The whole RMA process took 15 days after having to call them twice. They gave me a new product so kudos for that! Now this time I was extra careful with them, way too careful and it managed to last 2 months and I've started facing the same issue. Like reported by other reviewers, my earphones does not produce distorted sound, they just sound too low compared to when I first got them, so now its almost impossible for me to enjoy music without amplifying the sound all the way up to make it audible on road. As for other apps that don't support amplifiers, I'm stuck with using them indoors in a quiet environment with all my focus so I can actually understand what's being said in a video. To wrap it up, mainly because of its durability I'd rate this product 2 stars. Because no matter how careful you are, they won't last long. I don't know about cowon's other products but this time I'm going to request an upgrade with this RMA (will pay the difference of course) so at least I would know I'm not throwing the courier charge down the drain. My recommendation to people who commute: Don't get it, not worth it, won't last long. My recommendation to people who want to use it indoors: Don't get it, not worth it, won't last long.
