Great fun for little train fans
This motorised Henry train has been a hit with my five-year-old, who absolutely adores anything related to Thomas & Friends. It's simple to assemble and works seamlessly with compatible track sets, although including a few track pieces in the box would have been a thoughtful addition. The train is both sturdy and lightweight, making it safe for smaller hands, and it operates quietly – something the adults definitely appreciate! The plastic connectors function effectively, allowing us to attach it to other cars and trains from our collection. One downside is that installing the battery isn’t the easiest task – it feels a bit awkward and could benefit from a more practical design. That being said, once it's all set up, watching Henry pull the tender around the tracks has provided hours of fun. It's an excellent choice for fostering imaginative play without overcomplicating things.

My Grandson fell in love with Henry the moment it arrived
Fabulous Customer service as per usual. The unit arrived well before ETA and was soundly packaged. The Engines are very well made and are certainly great value for money.

Fun and Recognisable Toy Train
My son isn’t really a fan of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! as he gets bored of the show quickly, and to be honest, so do I. However, he does enjoy the toys from the series, as they feature recognisable characters, are well-made, and are fun to play with. This motorised train is lightweight, making it easy for little hands to handle, and it’s simple to operate by flipping the switch on top. It takes two AAA batteries (not included) and can run on plastic tracks or flat surfaces like the kitchen floor. The detachable tender is a nice addition, and the train can connect to other vehicles and cars in the range, adding to the play potential. The toy feels sturdy enough for regular play, though it might not hold up to rough handling. I also appreciate the level of detail in the design, but I admit the cartoony rebranding of the characters isn’t to my taste. My son doesn’t seem to mind, though, and that’s what matters most. If your child already has a collection of Thomas & Friends toys or tracks, this will make a great addition. It’s fun and engaging. How I rate the products: 5 stars: Performs perfectly, as advertised, and exceeds expectations in quality, functionality, or presentation. 4 stars: Works well but may have minor flaws, slight deviations from the description, or issues with packaging. Still a good purchase. 3 stars: Adequate product that works but lacks standout features or quality. Feels average in performance or design. 2 stars: Subpar product with noticeable flaws, poor quality, or questionable durability. Usable but disappointing. 1 star: Arrived broken, unusable, or completely fails to meet its intended purpose.

Good runner, despite the crazed face
The ‘Trackmaster’ branding may have disappeared but this engine is very much a match for the Trackmaster engines in our collection. The gauge is the same, matching classic traditional wooden and Brio track, as well as plastic Thomas-branded track sets. If your child’s Thomas plastic world is expanding (out of their bedroom and across the corridor…) then this is a workable addition. There are some minor differences to some of our older engines. For a start, this engine feels just a little bit lighter than others, as though the plastic is slightly thinner. However I wouldn’t describe it as flimsy, and it’s still a good runner- with the lower weight perhaps a benefit. The cog-shaped powered wheel gets a good grip on the plastic track and gives just about enough grip to pull it up a standard wooden track ramp as well, providing it’s not being asked to pull too much. The most obvious difference is the cartoony face, in line with the recent preschool rebranding. Personally I’m not a fan of the cartoony style, not so much in principle as in practice, because I think it makes Henry look maniacally crazed, as though he’s just spotted a brick wall and he intends to plough right through it. But if the new cartoon approach manages to get more kids interested in trains then I suppose it’s a good thing, even if I don’t like the style. Ten quid (at time of writing) is actually a pretty reasonable price for this engine by 2025 standards, in my opinion, and we’ve paid more for similar Trackmaster engines in the past. So despite my strong reservations about the cartoon face, I’m still giving it five stars anyway.

Good solid build quality for the price
In a nutshell: Things I liked: + It works well as a motorised train on plastic Thomas tracks. Also works on Plarail tracks if you have any of those. + Operation is so simple that a very young child would have no problem using it. One pretty easy to flick lever on the top. It's also very lightweight and the wheels are easy to get into the grooves of the plastic track. + The price of £13 is perfectly reasonable. Things I didn't like: - I'm not a massive fan of the cartoony flat faces. I appreciate that it's probably cheaper to produce a flat domed disc with one square nose detail and a cartoon face printed on it than it is to create a moulded 3D sculpted face like most of the other Thomas models we own. I think this is quite a significant compromise and I'm not a big fan. Do I recommend it? Yes. You can see what the model looks like from the listing images - if you're happy with that, the build quality of the model is fine for the price.

ottimo gioco
