Fun to watch
The storm glass is very fun to watch. It takes up very little space and amazing how accurate it is.

Cool conversation piece.
This is a small glass indicator and you can see very tiny little specks of something floating in the clear liquid. It is interesting and fun to have on a desktop. They not only put information about it on the box it ships in, but also in an enclosed brochure.

Save Your Money!
This does nothing. Since I received it and followed the instructions regarding running warm/hot air from a hair dryer over it to "reset" it, it hasn't done a thing. It isn't attractive and it doesn't show weather changes so basically it is useless.

Disappointing
I'm disappointed with this gift. I got it for my husband, who is interested in weather, but the glass hasn't done anything after a whole year. I've tried heating it and shaking it according to the directions and nothing. Granted, we live in Kansas where we don't normally have a lot of different weather, but this glass has said frost is coming since the we got it, even through the summer months. I guess the storm glass is cheap enough to give as a novelty gift, but it might just be disappointing.

It will frost
I bought this for my wife as an early valentines day gift. I reset it per the instructions. We live in New England and so far all it has done is collect a bunch of snow looking stuff on the bottom half. According to the directions I think it is saying frost is coming. Frost is here to stay! It has not changed to any of the other warnings in the directions. I keep my house at a constant temperature. This thing is sitting between some books on a bookshelf in the center of my house on the first floor away from all the vents and nothing is happening. We have had several storms and the Fitzroy has not changed one bit unless you count its now mocking demeanor. I gave it 3 stars cause my wife thinks its nifty and I'll abide its existence in the house so long as she remains enthusiastic about it but in my opinion is is a glorified fortune cookie.

A very unique gift of history
For the right person, this is a crazy good gift. I own an original Admiral Fitzroy storm glass that was an accessory to an 1870's Ansonia kitchen clock. This is much larger and for that special person that likes historical gadgets, they probably do not even know this exists.

Nice gift for a small desktop.
It's neat, looks a lot nicer in person.

She followed the directions and it works fine. Whether (or weather) it is accurate or not
I bought this for my sister-in-law. She was surprised that I knew what it was. It was a little foggy when it arrived, had been outside in the cold. She followed the directions and it works fine. Whether (or weather) it is accurate or not, it still makes a nice conversation piece.
