Fantastic color ereader for a reasonable price.
Initially, I had a Kobo Libra Colour, but found that it was a bit too large for my liking. While I did love the buttons, I just wanted something a bit smaller and lighter. The color screen was a must, so there weren't a lot of options. I gave this a try, and am more than pleased with it. It's about the size of a basic Kindle. Looks almost just like one, although the corners aren't as rounded, and obviously, it says "Kobo" across the front, rather than "Kindle." It's got 16 gigs of storage - more than enough for a library's worth of books if you don't have manga - and a decent color screen. Now, I say "decent," because it is e-ink, not because this device has a poor display. It's never going to be as bright or vibrant as an LCD, that's just the nature of the display type. But it still looks good for color panels in comic books and manga, and book covers as well. Not to mention, you can make annotations in different colors, for organization. The user interface is very simple to use. It shows you what you need to know, and nothing you don't. I find it much easier to navigate than stock Kindle software. I'd intended to install KOReader on it, but I have no need to. The base software works great for me. You can only use dark mode when you're actually reading a book, however, so the interface will always be in light mode otherwise. Not a huge deal, but a little disappointing nonetheless. You can actually add custom screensavers to your Kobo pretty easily, too. Just plug it into a computer, open the folder labeled, ".kobo," make a new folder in there called, "screensaver," and then put your screen savers in. It will randomly select one every time you put the device to sleep. You may need to increase the brightness and saturation if you want colors to show up clearly, but it's still a nice feature for customization! Not to mention how easy it is to sideload books onto it. Especially with Calibre. Effortless to put all your books on it. Plus, the store interface is pretty easy to use as well. You can also use Overdrive to get books rented from your local library onto it as well. There's no way to run out of things to read, really. Battery life is great, if you turn off bluetooth and wifi. I've been reading like crazy - have read a couple 400+ page novels with it over the past couple weeks - and it's still at 75% battery. I have my brightness a bit lower, so that definitely contributes, but still. You will get a lot of life out of this thing. Overall, I think this is a wonderful ereader. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into color ereaders without breaking the bank.

Better than kindle!
I love my clara color!! I have a libra color too but first I had a kindle paperwhite. Love the fact you can highlight in other colors! The brightness you can change with a swipe on the side of your page. helps when the sun setting and you need it brighter or at night time when you need it more dim. the light doesnt bother my partner aside of me sleeping. I love that its waterproof and I can read in the pool or in the hottub or even the bath! Next is the beach! The battery lasts over a month. I barely have to charge it! Its very responsive compared to kindle. Its reliable enough its my travel e-reader of choice! Another plus side to this is that I can hook up my library card to be able to borrow books right from OverDrive! (we got my friends kid one for her birthday!). only con i have, is you cannot email documents or epubs straight to the device like you can with kindle. You have to hook it up to your computer and use Calibre to upload those documents or files you want to add. But you can also buy right from kobo itself or even sign up for a kobo version of "kindle unlimited".

Good eReader
Very open ecosystem, very good quality, software is easy to use and navigate. Consistent updates, snappy enough for browsing libraries and the store. Color is there and a game changer compared to B&W, but don't expect to view high class photography. It does work very well for visual novels, though. I've only ever used the back light indoors and never really above 20%, though it's eink and if it's bright you don't need the backlight. Love the warm color filter in bed, though.

Great E-Reader
One of the best purchases I've made in a while. I've always wanted to get into reading, and this was the tool for me as it's lightweight and compact, as well as a great ecosystem of books available.

Best accidental purchase Ive ever made
I bought this for my girlfriend and realized it wasn’t the one that allows for Drive and Dropbox connections, but instead of returning it I kept it for myself. Best decision I’ve ever made. I cannot live without this thing. Battery life is outstanding, lasts forever. Is extremely light weight, so you don't get tired using it. Screen is nice, just like paper and also has dark mode. And it is basically plug and play.

Great, but maybe buy the warranty!
I love mine! I’ve had it since April of this year, the only thing is, I wish I would have bought the warranty. Today, some of the text was looking a bit faded. I thought it was my eyes, but nope. It’s only really evident when the back light is on. But I love the battery life, portability, and speed of it! It’s a great little device! Also, as a former Kindle user, it’s on the smaller side of e-readers. And it’s comfortable to hold with one hand! I HAD a pop socket on it, but my pup retaliated after I brushed her teeth…. Buy this, and you’ll likely read more. It’s my travel buddy, and I’ve reached my reading goal already for the year!

Great purchase!
Love this! The screen is bright, the size is perfect and the price is a lot better than the other brands out there. After doing a lot of research on other eReaders I am definitely glad I picked this one!

Good at first, but defective design?
Can't recommend. I had this reader for one year and everything was fine into this morning. Last night I finished reading and set it on the arm of my couch. I got up today and picked it up and the screen looks like this. It appears as if it's been damaged but it just sat there, overnight, with its cover closed. Seems a defective design. My search for a quality, non-Kindle reader continues.

Clara or Kindle for Singapore?
My second purchase for my niece. Strongly recommend getting this if you are in Singapore using NLB resources. The fact that this device is connects to Singapore's NLB ebooks already indicates the necessity to have this. Color is real and warm. It really elevates the reading experience. I like a stand alone device as it keeps kids honest about what they are doing on the ipad. Also, ipad's color may not gentle on the eye. Contrast to Kindle... Sometimes i tend to accidently press the button at the bottom and sleeps it. Clara's button is at the back where your finger will normally rest holding the device. and that helps....

Great choice for your first e-reader
This is my first e-reader, I would’ve gone for the B/W model but the prices were the same for both of them, so I went for the magical gift of colours. The software is intuitive and transferring your local books from laptops is a breeze. The price may seem on the higher end, but if you’re a book nerd, it’ll worth it trust me. Getting decent accessories at an affordable prices is the only con I can say. The screen quality is actually great, even tho people said the resolution won’t be as sharp and it will be darker, I adore the grainy effect, it looks like a newspaper. And the compact size is perfect for me, i can easily carry it in my bag without it feeling like a liability.

Answers all of my Issues with Kindle
I decided with some trepidation to try Kobo rather than buying my 8th Kindle. I was annoyed by all the ads on Kindle. I'm very happy with my decision for several reasons. It's a great device. I can see the cover of my book instead of ads. The brightness interface is much more convenient than Kindle. It's easier to get to your library, so it's much easier to switch between 2 books. It's also easier to get to the store and back to your book. Showing the cover instead of ads is really nice. I can finally remember the title of the book I'm reading! It's also much simpler to read samples. You don't have to download the samples, you just click 'read sample'. The first book I searched (Battle of the Beams) wasn't available for me on Kindle, but it's available on Kobo. On the downside I can't read my Kindle books, obviously and I think I prefer the Kindle font. The kindle was also a bit lighter.
