can i use these to trim goat hooves

I've been using them for goat hooves exclusively for the last two years and they have held up quite well. I do put some WD40 on the blades every now and then, but otherwise they remain sharp and work well in the hand. I'm not sure what the other person's complaint is all about. I've not had those problems.

Is this snips good for cutting plastic?

I'd say it'd cut almost anything 1/16" or thinner pretty easily, with thicker material probably up to 1/8" with varying effectiveness (and effort required) depending on the type of plastic you working with.

What is the largest gauge of wire that these can cut?

The largest gauge I used them on was 20 gauge, but the internal springs on the grips broke within weeks and then they were no good.
