what are the mils thickness of this tarp? 4 mils economy or 9 mils heavy duty?

This is not 9 mil. It is definitely thinner like a standard camping tarp.

How does it hold up to sunlight exposure?

Fine. No problems. Great tarp for the money.

Why does Amazon not clearly put tarp's thickness in the description?

I bought this tarp and it is pretty thin. I used it to cover a outdoor sectional sofa when it would rain. It held up well for the year. It is not a heavy duty tarp, and is not substantial. If you are looking for a sturdy long term tarp this is not heavy enough.
