My new bike with its Mavic Aksium Elite Evo UST rims came with a pair of Yksion Pro UST tyres thrown in, and after much browsing, I came across these valves, which are the real deal. In spite of the terrifying price, I had little inclination to spend my money on something of doubtful suitability, so I went for these, and they appear to match the internal rim profile perfectly, as is to be expected. They come with a variety of external spacers to suit rims with different external profiles, and a key for the valve core. I had already used the tyres with tubes for a week or so, and had previously employed soapy water applied with a toothbrush to ease them on, which probably helped the tyres to drop easily and accurately on to the rims when I fitted them tubeless, and I was able to pump them up them with my tiny low-volume touring pump at the first attempt. Beginner’s luck? Hopefully the addition of 45g of Orange Endurance Sealant will help to keep them that way.
