Fabulous imagery with top-notch features
My original 4.5" digital microscope's limitations were becoming tiresome. Many hours of micro-soldering practice had become a chore rather than a pleasure, so I needed an upgrade. I watched a demonstration of the Tomlov TM4K Max on an electronics repair YouTube channel, and it looked like an excellent investment, so I bought one. The heavy stand with a matte black finish reduces reflective glare, and the easy-to-use swivel arm makes it a breeze to set up. No more wobbly work trying to balance, like my old microscope. Zooming in even further with the remote control was the cherry on the cake. Now I can see just how bad my soldering is :) Tomlov's customer support has also been top-notch when I need some product clarification. Seeing an actual printed manual rather than squinting online at a PDF document showed me that they go the extra mile. Everything is neatly packaged and well-explained. Do you need a really great microscope at an affordable price? Then, I highly recommend that you give this model a shot. My eyes are grateful for this decision.

A very good tool for pcb repair.
The stand is all metal and the movement is smooth. For pcb repair you have plenty of space between the base and the microscope to work in. There is a light guide and a uv filter on the box along with a mains USB charger and a hdmi lead. The manual is detailed also.

Lack of auto focus not an issue, solid build, poor camera/lights
Unfortunately the box arrived damaged. The lighting is super harsh and hard to work with without external help. The actual solid base and the metal neck/arm system is actually great though. Smooth movements and fairly solid. But the camera and lighting really do not stack up. Manual focus is very easy to work with. Zoom functions seem to be digital zoom only which results in fairly poor quality images.

Really good resolution and works well
I’ve been impressed with the quality and overall performance of this digital microphone. The image quality is really good and it made things like doing some bonding together. Its easy to use and when used correctly it easy to get the job done. It does have a lot to like about it, but its very niche and expensive. Hope you found my review helpful.

Not as good as expected
Amazon review of Tomilov 4K digital microscope. Bought for use with a hot air surface-mount rework soldering station, this item is rather disappointing. Firstly, all illustrations, including that on the cover of the User Manual show a led ring illuminator attached. This is not included; instead a few rather poor leds are spaced around the microscope's lens which reflect badly on any shiny work-piece. Added to that, they are unusable when the uv filter (provided) is in place as they are behind the filter and cause a massive amount of flare. The rack and pinion fine height adjustment is rickety and clunky and simply does not befit a precision instrument. But the most disappointing failure of all is that the plane of focus is not flat. Get it sharp in the middle and the edges are substantially out of focus, and vice versa. For the price, I expected a top quality product, with it being of 4K resolution and all that, but it fails to please in so many ways. It will do what I need of it, so I won't be returning it, but neither would I recommend it to anyone else.

Very good for circuit board repair.
Excellent product. I've been using this when repairing old ZX spectrum motherboards where the traces have been damaged and it has been fabntastic. Robust, good quality, sharp image and easy to use. Very good.

Hugely Impress and great value for money
I'm very impressed with the quality and usability of the microscope. The stand is really flexible and I have it mounted on an inspection conveyor so that I can examine boards coming off the pick and place machine.

Mindblowing piece of kit
I am blown away by this digital microscope - the lens provides crystal clear optics on the bright and sharp 10 inch screen, and does all this with consummate ease. Assembly was a breeze as you only need to attach the post to the large and stable metal base with the flat edge facing forwards. The smooth articulating arm is already complete and just needs tightening to the post. The monitor/microscope section is then tightened to the other end of the arm and you are done. The arm is coated with some grease which may need wiping off but the lubricant has been well applied here as the monitor moves effortlessly and holds its position well wherever it is needed. The instruction booklet is clear and goes into a good level of detail of all the different options available via the remote or the buttons on the front of the screen. Initially the light was quite glaring and I was struggling to work out where the brightness control was. I then felt very silly when I realised that the brightness can be controlled via the touch strip on the front left side of the monitor next to the buttons! Brightness is adjusted smoothly but you will need to remember to attach the lens reflector to reduce glare from the LED's surrounding the camera lens. To do this, you just twist off the bottom section of the camera, fit the reflector hood and replace the bottom cylinder. I would also screw in the UV lens filter right away to protect the lens from damage and dust. Using the unit was a pleasure particularly for soldering. To operate the unit, I firstly used the rotating knobs behind the monitor so that it was in the middle of the height adjustment pillar. I then adjusted the height of the arm on the rear pillar to get it more or less in the right place. I then went back to the adjustment behind the screen to fine tune . Once you have the right height, position and rotate the camera housing to focus and then you are ready to go. It works beautifully well. The kids even enjoyed looking at things under the microscope including their own hair, a ballpoint pen and even insects. On the back there is a micro SD card already installed to capture images and video, a USB-C port, 5V output and mini HDMI out. All in all, a fantastic piece of kit that can be used for professional soldering work as well as to satisfy kids curiosities at the weekend.
