It does pass-through only while recording.2 This statement is misleading: "To maximize portability, the capture device is USB powered (5V,1A Only), so you don't have to use an additional power adapter or find an available wall outlet." This device requires an external power supply of 5 volts 1 amp. The kit includes a USB cable. But you will need a wall wart, battery or to plug it into a PC or other device with powered USB ports. Everything else in my FPV kit is 12 volt.OK bad stuff out of the way. It's last minute and I needed to replace my Anysun DVR. It was very unpredictable on whether it recorded anything and only recorded in PAL format despite the menu offering NTSC.I am happy to report this DriverGenius Stand-Alone Video Capture Box reliably records the 5.8Ghz FPV video (I'm not transmitting sound though) and it is much improved over the Anysun DVR in quality.The one button approach is very intuitive. Ha ha.
