This new take on the LEGO Ice Planet minifigure respects the original Ice Planet 2000 space sub-theme series while also adding some new character and flair to the original style. This figure particularly is supposed to be Dr. Kelvin, the red-headed female scientist from the original series. This updated version comes with a short, red hair headpiece in addition to the new style helmet. Fans of the original series will note that the trans-neon orange is not a currently made LEGO color, and this new trans orange doesn't quite have the same cool look as the original with the blue, white, and black color scheme that goes with the original's series color scheme; it's close enough though. This figure also comes with a new take on the ice chainsaw that the original figures had as well. No skis included, which is a shame as that was another staple of the original figures. The little space penguin companion is a cool new addition to the Ice Planet universe & wildlife. The other major difference here is there is no visor that can be removed like all other traditional space minifigure helmets; the original had a uniquely styled trans-neon orange visor that had a little antennae with wind shield- this new one is one piece with just the visor colored orange on the white helmet. I'm guessing this was cost-saving choice, just like not coming with any skis as since the trans-neon orange pieces are all discontinued, they went with a lesser piece count and less pieces that would have been that color as well. The new style helmet does look cool, but honestly I feel that the perfect modern rerelease of a classic space minifigure was the Space Police Guy that came out a few years prior that built off everything the original Space Police had (color scheme, accessories, appearance) and added more. I wish this Ice Planet figure did that too, but it's still a cool little update to this beloved space theme nonetheless.
