Foam Clay, White Air Dry Modeling Clay, 3.3 lb, 3-Pack

The BOHS Foam Clay was a great product for crafts and endless creativity for a teen. We purchased in white, which allowed the creation of every possible color easily with the addition of just a tiny bit of food coloring. This made it versatile and more cost effective without having to purchase a range of different colors and have too much material on hand. The material has a unique consistency and is easy to work with, being very pliable and not leaving any residue or mess. This made it possible to just focus on the project rather than cleaning. It was a great material for a teenager over the summer to explore with. The amount of detail able to be achieved with this clay was impressive. Making things ranging from the size just a little bigger than a thumbtack to a tennis ball size was completely possible. Different pieces of different colors can be formed easily and even attach to one another before drying. After forming, there was a minimal amount of shrinkage and reasonable amount of drying time. The dried finished pieces have remained intact and in the same condition as when they were made. They are very light weight, like a feather, and have not become powdery or disintegrated in the least. Some examples of the size and creation possibilities are shown on 8.5x11 pieces of paper and on a mirror (the clay was attached to the mirror with a glue gun). It has been beautiful to see the final, long-lasting creations from such a simple material, and we highly recommend it.

I ordered this for a very specific use, so I can only speak to that. I am a needle-felter and I wanted to find an air-dry clay for creating claws, beaks, and such for my felted critters. This is very moist and elastic, surprisingly so. The color was a dense black which is what I wanted. It took a bit of getting used to as I am wrapping the clay around a thin wire armature and shaping it into the desired shape, but I got used to it pretty fast. It was not messy at all. I thought it would behave more like the air-dry foam clay (like Crayola), but it is quite different and I think better for my work. For my use, a little goes a long way. The 1.1 lb. package will last me forever for what I'm using it for. If this proves to work well, which it seems to, it will be a very good value for the money. Can't comment on durability yet, but I have no reason to think it won't hold up well. So far, my penguins' feet look pretty darn good! 😊 So I'm happy.

Truly an excellent value for the price. I buy these in larger quantities for my business, and I'm glad they're available and ship quickly. This is a versatile product that can work for so many projects; it is not sticky, it isn't messy, and it creates a nice finish for your artwork.

My daughter really enjoyed playing with it, as it made good slime and was really easy to model with. What I personally like is that if your project isn't going the way you want it to, you can soak the clay in some water overnight, and then kneed it back to its original state. You get a good amount, it's super soft and stretchy, you can use it for modeling or slime, and easy it's to clean. My only complain is that it does have a weird scent to it, it's not that strong and only noticeable whenever you come close to sniff it.

Toss out pretty much everything you expect this 'clay' to be. It's nothing like earthen clay or paper clay. It's completely different. It's incredibly clean and incredibly fun! This is my first time using foam clay. I'm used to using earthen and paper clay, and wanted to give a different clay a try. I used this in a frame mould several days ago. It's yet to harden, and it's drying (so very, very slowly) with the corners flipping up. I keep working it to flatten it back out. (I ordered some *thin and airy* muslin cloth to lay over and pin down my next flat foam mould I try. We'll see how it goes. It's just a try and see kind of thing.) Being as I'm new to foam clay, I've no doubt that the problem is with me, and not the clay. I will say this. I was so surprised at how this clay looked to be incredibly sticky, but was not sticky at all! My brain is still trying to make this make sense. Looks can be, and are deceiving! This is a very interesting medium! It has been quite fun to work with. I can see the draw. Clean up has been incredibly easy. My mould pretty much needed no cleaning at all. There was no evidence I'd even used it! Such a departure from the clay I'm used to using. I'm going to do some real research into this clay, work on making some free form sculpture with more depth and dimension, and see how it goes. I have a feeling that this is where this clay may show a real difference. I'm looking forward to having something hard enough to sand and define. I should probably add that our weather here has been quite rainy, and I do know that humidity can really wreck the curing process/time of any clay. That is not lost on me. So I'm not giving up and I'm not throwing the towel in over one small failure. I'm looking forward to my next attempt. This air dry foam clay is actually fun to work with. It's almost like a stress reliever, the consistency of it just feels like therapy to me! Storage is easy. It come sin a zip lock type bag. I don't ever trust those bags, or myself to ever zip them properly. I always double bag my clay and remove as much air as possible. I checked my clay before I came to leave this review, and it's just as fresh as when I opened it.

I had no idea how I was gonna do the tusks/fangs for my Guita cosplay (white parts on wig) and thought I was gonna use eva foam at first, but this was a more fun and better option! (A learning experience, too!) There are much more creative people here and better uses, but used this for cosplay, as advertised and it works perfectly! Im very new to this, but this was easy to mold, shape and the fun part, sanding! Made my props very clean and smooth. Looks much better than what eva foam would do imo. Love how light it is as well for the finished product, its much needed on the wig lol. As I read from other reviews, definitely allow 24 hours PLUS to dry, depending on how thick the clay is! I definitely recommend this clay for cosplay purposes, cant wait to put it to the test at a con!

Outstanding to use for cosplay. It's been a multi-year quest to find the right kind of foam clay to use for actual grownup sculpting. This one has one of the same issues (the bubble holes) but I attribute that to it being a clay made out of literal bubbles itself, so that was expected. What I didn't expect, and was very pleasantly surprised by, was its ease of sanding. This stuff takes very well to sandpaper sculpting and dries to a hard sandable finish in about two days of drying. (So make sure you allow for time when you have a con coming up in a few days, speaking from experience here) as I said you'll have bubbles, but all you need to do is reapply, re-dry, and resand until you have the results you wanted. It's worth mentioning that this reapplication process is a LOT faster since you're putting it on a very dry styrofoam surface, and it's great for wicking the moisture away and it'll be ready to sand in a half a day or so. The other thing I love about it over all the other foam clay I've used is how perfect it is for acrylic paint. Two coats of high quality gesso (I use Golden) completely seals it and fills all the microbubbles to an almost glassy finish (providing you sanded to 1000 grit). I'm still working on the tail as you'll see in the photos, to get an idea of a wip, but the horns I made for my partner's Sallie May and the snake for my Rosie hat turned out with a flawless finish. I'm over the moon. I love this clay, can you tell? 👀 (You'll need a gallon ziplock for the bag though, it doesn't reseal very well on its own. So keep that in mind.) I have nothing but good things to say about it if you're using it for anything, but especially cosplay. Quest status complete.

Ich finde es toll dass die Masse nicht an den Fingern klebt. Aber leider verformt sie sich beim trocknen extrem (zerfließt nahezu) so dass sie für meine Projekte komplett unbrauchbar ist. Ich hoffe ich finde noch eine Verwendung dafür, bisher kann ich damit nichts anfangen. Alles was anfangs super aussah war nach einer Nacht komplett verformt. Details gehen nicht

Unglaublich angenehm zum Modellieren. Zwar sehr mühsam sich an die Verformbarkeit anzupassen, aber mit genügend Mühe gewöhnt man sich an dessen Gegebenheiten. Die Form hält auch sobald der Foam Clay richtig getrocknet ist. Das Endresultat ist durch die Leichtigkeit des Foam Clays entsprechend auch immer sehr leicht. Unerwarteter Weise riecht der Foam Clay sogar noch sehr angenehm.

i love this stuff it's amazing, it arrived very fast, light weight, works well with almost anything, can be textured, is like a blu-tack to work with and can also be reactivated with water, its amazing for 3d art, cosplays and modelling. only complaint is the package arrived exposed, if punctured, the entire thing can dry out, but it was fine.

What can I say, except that this is the best foam clay I have ever tried in my life? Firstly, some advice for those confused about this type of air dry clay. Foam clay is made from tiny little particles of foam, and once dry, is lightweight, slightly flexible and very durable. Due to the nature of foam clay, how you work with it is a little different to other types of clay, but you can say that about every type of clay really, they all have their quirks and you need to work with them to achieve the best results. So, when you first pull the clay out of the bag, it's quite stretchy. This absolutely has uses. But if you want a firmer clay to work with, all you have to do is condition it for a little bit to allow it to evaporate some of the water, or condition it for about 15 seconds, then squish it out as flat as you can and leave it for a few minutes. Then pick it up and condition it some more and you'll immediately feel that the clay is firmer than it was. With the clay being fresh, you don't need to do anything to stick two pieces together, other than press them together. They will bond immediately, which is a great time saver! It also dries extremely smooth, so you never have to worry about fingerprints. And I've never had any dust stick to it either. Here's an extra little tip if you need to add some weight to your clay. Mix a little cold porcelain into the foam clay. They combine really well and create a whole new type of clay that has great uses! Anyway this is by far the best foam clay I have ever tried. Doesn't dry too quickly so not racing against the clock to finish sculpting, and the consistency is just perfect. Not to soft, not too hard, not to dry, not too wet. I love it!
