Samsung 7 Series NU7100 43" - Flat 4K UHD Smart LED TV (2018)

Update: I was mistaken. I used a crappy HDMI to Displayport adapter which I reviewed as follows: "This will mess up your displayed image by limiting it to "limited range ycbr420" instead of full range RGB. The "low" HDMI setting is actually just there to compensate for this and doesn't actually "fix" the problem as it just makes EVERYTHING darker / brighter to fake it. My Rift cuts in and out with this and my TV goes to 1080P frequently with this ON TOP of the color malfunctions." That's why Netflix / Hulu caused my TV to recalibrate - not a malfunction. THAT SAID go into Nvidia Control Panel / AMD Radeon Experience and make sure it's RGB with Full Dynamic Range - mine defaulted to limited range AND YCBR420 which will cause Windows to eat (DWM and Client Server Runtime Process) 30% ish of GPU when you move your mouse. Had to use my Spyder 5 Express to calibrate but otherwise great display. Spent about 20 minutes in the settings menu (where things are oddly placed) but now it's solid. Only weird thing is that in Windows if I go to Hulu and play an HDR video the dumb TV goes black and is like "LOL OPTIMIZING FOR THIS CONTENT" and it just breaks my color calibration and makes everything look like dog.. food. Which means that I have to disable HDR so.. that's awful. But considering that I, as someone who owns a Spyder and clearly cares about color reproduction, haven't been sold on HDR do to the cluster.. truck of terrible implementations and content... don't NOT buy this display. No display at this price does HDR well. You're looking at the 800+ range for good HDR. Without color calibration you're looking at dark grey blacks (and with you're still looking at very dark grey blacks bc LCD) and there's clearly SOME ghosting that I only see while scrolling my web pages, notes, ect. (but not in games, weirdly) BUT I hook my Switch up to this display (because my other TV loses the picture repeatedly - the Switch Dock is pretty much a hacked together and non-spec abiding servicable prototype BUT that's no excuse) and I'm not like "OMG THIS IS SUCH GARBAGE PICTURE QUALITY" so take that as you will. To be clear, I can only calibrate this via Windows - the TV itself doesn't have a calibration option for something like a Spyder so if your device doesn't have that built into it in some way then you can't really fix this sooo.. yeah. Basically if you've never looked at a display and thought "wtf is that picture?" this won't bother you because it's nice enough for the price. Again, it's an LCD LED panel - it's not IPS so idk why you'd expect a great color repro to begin with (: And, finally, input lag is fine. I haven't noticed any issues whatsoever. If you're planning on using this as a PC monitor you'll need a 1060 or higher, 2060 or higher, or an AMD 480 / 580 / VEGA / New ("VII") series card. Otherwise the HDMI isn't 2.0 enabled and you'll be stuck with a VERY CHOPPY AND LAGGY 4K 30hz - idk what went wrong but with my R9 270 this was unusably choppy. Not just "low fps" but just terribly non-responsive AND low FPS AND ghosting like crazy. OH one more thing! IT'S VERY IMPORTANT. This TV upscales all content super well. Got an old (or Nintendo Switch) console that can't send out an upscaled 4K image? (Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro can do this) That's okay because the TV does a good job! I got a Hisense in my room and its upscaler is TERRIBAD. It uses some sort of blurry upscaling and then sharpens it giving it this messy crunchy look. Disgusting. Thank you Samsung for not doing whatever they did! Took them over a week to get back to me and it wasn't successful support. Sent me alternative firmwares to try but none of them fixed it. After a full month and a half of support AND that TV malfunctioning with my Switch I can strongly recommend this TV by comparison (

This was my first 4K UHD TV, and I was upgrading from a pretty high-end Sony 1080p screen that I was very happy with. I purchased this TV from the Amazon warehouse and it was marked as having damaged packaging (and hence carried a significant discount), but when it turned up the packaging seemed perfect, and the TV was undamaged. In terms of picture quality, I found the "Dynamic" setting a little too bright and harsh on the eyes, so have tended to use my own preferred settings, however these are very easy to change using two clicks of the remote, so don't require a degree in engineering! Cabling the TV up to my amp and surround speakers was also very easy, and I was able to have my set top box, BluRay player, PS4 and home theater TV up and running within an hour of receiving the TV. I'm extremely happy with the picture quality, especially as this TV sits in an area where direct sunlight hits it. With my older Sony TV I could literally not see anything in those conditions, but with the new Samsung screen it's still pretty visible. I would absolutely recommend that if anyone is having problems with the display settings that they do a quick Google search and try out some recommended settings from other people; there are quite a few recommendations out there on forums and it was actually pretty fun to try these different options out and see which ones looked best to my eyes. Saved a lot of trial and error! In summary, if you're looking for a mid-range, affordable 4K UHD screen, I would highly recommend this one.

Update 11/30 we’ve had this TV for several days, I love the picture but just now noticing some of the cable channels aren’t coming through- is anyone else experiencing this? Is something wrong with this Samsung I just purchased?? I hooked it up to xfinity and WiFi very easily and HDMI 1, I’m assuming that HDMI 2,3,4 are for other stuff like sound bar,, ect,., I’m not sure now if it’s working in its optimal capacity, especially if some channels aren’t working- help anyone out there who has this model, I guess I have to contact seller 😞 we love this Samsung, I’m hoping there’s something I can do here from home. We got our new Samsung yesterday, it arrived a day early. It’s our first 4K HDR 58 inch. We have a cute little house for just me and my husband, I didn’t realize the screen was so big! We probably would have been fine with 50 inch , but we love it 😍 the setup was super easy via remote rather than opening a Samsung account to do setup via app, the remote was quick and easy steps- the picture is gorgeous and crisp- I read reviews that sound was a problem, the volume is great and goes really high on regular programming. I haven’t tried Netflix or Prime yet so I’ll see how the sound works with that later. Overall very pleased with our new purchase- 1st Samsung for us and we got an excellent price for such a beautiful big screen. Highly recommend! 😃

We previously had a 65" Samsung 4K Smart Curve model TV and loved it. When relocating, we elected to right size our home for just my wife and me. The 65" Curve was now too big so we sold it. :( After relocating, we wall mounted a true 42" model we had as a second TV, using the same wall mount used for the 65" Curve. In time we realized the 42" was just too small for the room. When beginning the search for a new TV, we felt a 50" model would be a perfect fit. We live 2.5 hours from the closest big box store, so we rely heavily on shopping online. I share this for a few reasons. If you can't see all the connections, picture quality and actually measure the size of the TV, you need to pay close attention to the details/reviews/questions when shopping online. I almost pushed the button on a 50" Samsung TV when I realized the actual picture size is 43" and not even close to 50". :( Why the industry, including Samsung, plays this game with picture size is so misleading to the consumer. Not a good thing! We then looked at the 55" model, in reality a 48" screen which is about as close to a 50" model we could find. I have to give props to Amazon on ordering, shipping and delivery. I had visions of box damage which never occurred. The TV arrived on time as scheduled and without any sign of box damage. Thank you Amazon! Several reviews mention poor quality regarding the remote, which is accurate. The remote for this 55" model is by far inferior to the Curve model we had in the past, but we also paid close to $2K for the Curve. The Curve remote was exceptional, but the cost was 3 times more expensive too. Some of the reviews mention picture quality as a concern which I take exception to. For the money, the picture quality is excellent. I successfully mounted the 55" model to our wall mount though I had to purchase longer bolts and drill 4 holes in the existing mount, but the mount works perfectly after a few minor modifications. Connecting our existing sound bar used for the Curve became a big issue, though. This 55" model does not provide a Bluetooth connection, which more expensive TV's offer, including the Samsung Curve we previously had. After several missed attempts in connecting the sound bar to the new TV, I eventually realized that simply connecting an HDMI cable to the sound bar and the ARC-HDMI connector on the TV solved this problem as well. Now I can use the Direct TV controller to change channels and adjust the sound on the sound bar, though doing so also required adjusting the TV voice speed adjustment to match the voice to mouth movement of people talking on TV. I had to troubleshoot this without there being any documentation about this, but I was able to get everything connected and working properly. It just takes a little more time to accomplish. That said, we really like the finished product and the price. We considered a more expensive model, but this model is perfect for watching football games, movies, our weekly shows and the news, etc. We're not gamers, so no input on this function, but for a very nice TV at a reasonable price, I can highly recommend this product.

Back lighting partially failed on starboard side of TV. I can not see the picture on starboard half of screen in daylight conditions because it is too dark. I can still operate smart menu and watch this TV in a totally dark room. I must say, I am very disappointed and frankly shocked by this too early failure. This is my first experience with a flat panel TV failing so quickly. In the past, I always bought the latest greatest very expensive Sony TV available. Fortunately my much older first and third generation Sony flat screen 760p/ 1080p TVs are stlll working and usable after many years of extreme usage. I bought this Samsung Tv for its 4 k QLED HDR resolution which looked far far better then my heavily used old generation Sony flat panel LED TVs. The price for this Samsung seemed like a real bargain but maybe not if you have to replace it after a year or a few years of light usage. However, I wonder, maybe now days the more too expensive new Sony TV are weak sister TVs also. Anyway, good price for a nice TV that barely lasted for two and a third years. I would be more old fart upset but most of what is available to watch on TV for the last ten years has been barely watchable and mostly cheap tedious propaganda insulting big steaming pile of boring crap, so to speak, sort of like Samsung weak sister TVs and customer support. SO, If you don't plan on being 2 old fart alive for more than one or two more year this Samsung TV is fairly priced and has a very nice picture and would be a great buy.

I bought this to replace my 9 year old Sharp 1080p LCD so I can get the most out of my PS4 Pro and it looks good, good color and clarity, super light weight, has all the connections I need. I will update after owning it some time. Only Con I see out of the box is the feet are pretty small if your going to just set it on a piece of furniture Im not conviced it would be super stable, this is not a concern for me as I wall mounted, but its something to note. Note on Mounting: I have a 10+ year old universal mount (Which was more than adequate for this TV) however samsung's instructions are not clear on the exact bolts you need for the TV or if the included spacers are required for non-versa mounting systems. 1.) Yes, the included spacers are requires regardless of mounting system, the top stick out and the bottom will be flush when inserted so dont be alarmed. 2.) they list in the instructions 43-45mm long M8, 1.25 twist bolts for my 55" version, once at the hardware store you will discover there are 40mm and 50mm bolts but nothing in between, I got 4 of each just to be safe and found that the 50mm where perfect and the 40mm would have be far too short (not sure 45mm would either if you find some), so get 50mm, 1.25 twist, M8 Bolts.

I bought this to replace my 55" TCL 4k tv, and glad i did. The TCL tv, only lasted about 4 years, and the picture, was never good to begin with. The samsung is and awsome tv, the clarity is magnificent, and the simplicity of setting it up is great. The audio of the tv could use and upgrade, but i use and onkyo receiver, with martin logan speakers anyways, so i just turn the speakers off. Ilthe tv has a ton of options, and i am very pleased with the purchase. I still have a samsung 43" in my bedroom, and have had it for about 10 years, and still works great. Love Samsung's quality, and customer service, which i only had to use a handful of times in the paat several years. I would recommend this tv, for anyone looking for a new unit.

I got this to replace a Vizio 39" TV. After hanging it to the wall it took only 15 minutes to install. The setup to WiFi was automatic. Setup of Prime and Netflix was equally easy. The picture quality is excellent. I have not changed any settings to the picture. The picture isn't very good looking at it from an angle. I especially like the sound quality. The Vizio sound quality wasn't nearly as good as this is. The remote is a little difficult. Sometimes you have to push a button twice to get it to respond. The manual is very much lacking in instructions. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a quality 40" TV.

The TV arrived on time & it was really easy to get setup. The interface was really simple & easy to use, it's great for anyone looking for a good priced TV with a good quality.

Great value for the money. I was concerned that it does not have Bluetooth, as I was going to use separate speakers. But the TV's speakers are fine. For some reason it doesn't have a "power On" light, so it is hard to tell if the TV is off or on. How much can a little LED light cost? TV was advertised as the US Version, but I received the Canadian version. I don't know if I can tell the difference other than the model number. The US version model ends in "FXZA" I got the Canadian version which ends in "FXZC". Like I said, can't really tell the difference. Overall the TV has worked out great

I bought this brand new Samsung TV and it didn't last few months and the screen went completely dark, I contacted the seller for answers or anything they did nothing at all. I believe they're based in Quebec. Please Avoid this seller
