First unit was out of square. The box looked OK, but one of the cutting guide hinges looked different than the other. Somewhere along the way the hinge was damaged. Not good for cutting mats. However Logan shipped a replacement immediately, with an RMA number and return label. All is well that ends well. This is a critical and vulnerable part of the product. I would suggest putting a threaded insert in the base that would line up with a hole in the cutting bar. This could be held in place with a fastener during shipping, which would be discarded bu the customer, or used for storage..

Seemed like a good product until I realized the angles weren't square and would result in improperly cut mats.

This mat cutter is a huge upgrade from my trusty Logan 301 - faster, larger, more accurate and more versatile. I love that I can crosscut mat board, foam core and glass as well as cutting mats. Also the production stops save a huge amount of time if you have more than 1 mat to cut.
