Though best known in the English speaking world for his short fictions and poems, Borges is revered in Latin America equally as an immensely prolific and beguiling writer of non-fiction prose. In THE TOTAL LIBRARY, more than 150 of Borges' most brilliant pieces are brought together for the first time in one volume - all in superb new translations. More than a hundred of the pieces have never previously been published in English. THE TOTAL LIBRARY presents Borges at once as a deceptively self-effacing guide to the universe and as the inventor of a universe that is an indispensible guide to Borges Review: Read for the content, but avoid for paper quality and small font - Gave 5 star for the content as the writing of Jorge luis Borges is an enigma in itself. I have read his complete fiction and that's wonderful. This book is no less, although it is a difficult read comparatively. However, I would give just 2 star to penguin for the print quality and it's not a cheap book either and they publish many books at half the price and double the width with better size font and paper quality. Don't know what happened here. This book is printed on worst paper in penguin books I have and also have smallest of font. The cover page was also very thin. I am using a very think plastic sheet as cover to.improve it's longevity. Review: Superb - Superb collection of Borgesโ essays, including some which are not available elsewhere. Each essay has the characteristics of one of his stories. Fascinating, sometimes startling, and packed with enough erudition to keep one googling for weeks. Highly recommended.

A wonderful collection of Borges' non-fiction
This is a wonderful collection of Borges' non-fiction. It is a marvelous book to read and ponder. The only thing I could have wished for is a larger print font. I find I have to read this one with a magnifying glass. I suppose I shouldn't complain because there is SO much material. I will give this 5 stars just for the wealth of good reading it has to offer.

Just wow!
Borges is a master, regardless of whether he is writing about artificial language, tango or Anglo-Saxon poetry. Writers who haven't read him should have their pens taken away.

I love this book
I love this book. The ideas, the expression, the style, the fine economy and the wit; everything about it is exceptional. So much to learn and so pleasurable. As he says: "Nothing comic is not serious".

A terrific assortment
Borges does more in short form than a typical full length volume. His range of interests and reference is humbling. A delight.
