Taking reverse engineering to a new level
The approach adopted by the author in tackling some of the most perplexing questions is as ingenious as it is simple. Studying brain disorders and then from there looking back and trying to understand normal functioning of brain seems so trivially simple an approach in hindsight. And yet the fact is the author was the one to think of it. The ability of the author to dissect questions which we could not even frame and provide clear insights and more specific details is brilliant.A very good read for anyone who appreciates the subtleties of every action or thought. And even if you do not, this book will prompt you and encourage you to appreciate the sheer brilliance of our brain and the insane amount of complex calculations it performs for the sinplest of tasks like lifting a coffee cup from the table.

One of the most important books about the working of brain
This book is remarkable by all the three counts - the content, the presentation and the packaging. Dr. Ramachandran is one of greatest story tellers, may be as great as Dawkins or Feynman, and is able to convey very subtle ideas in a way they look obvious and convincing to readers. I think this is the type of books if you start reading you cannot leave in between. Without this book my book collection will not be complete and I would like to read this book again & again. If you are planning for it I will say go for it.

SIMPLY GENIUS
The ideas put forward by the author are just as brilliant as they are simple. The genius of the experiments designed to prove/disprove the ideas leave u awestruck. Mr Ramachandran reminds us, that even in this age of advanced micro and nanotechnologies, sometimes good old brainstorming coupled with well crafted experiments can take us a long way. Though some parts of the book can seem to convey ideas too preliminary or too vague, its a great read for anyone intrigued by the way our supercomputer works!

Better than Phantoms in the brain.
Duplication of phantom in brain content to some extent, would give 5 star had I not read Phantom in brain. Read this book only.
