De'Longhi CTH4003 4-Slice Toaster

Looked at all the expensive $250+ toasters and decided to take a chance on this one, it has performed perfectly! (got free super saver shipping) Put in 4 slices and they all come out toasted the same, defrosts bagels perfectly, clean design and the blue leds are cool. Knobs at first looked like plastic (really smooth finish), but are metal (cast zinc, I think) as advertised. Replaces my 8 yr old 2 slot Delonghi that was crome plated and showed signs of rust (kept it next to the sink), but after 8 yrs it still worked perfectly.

My second delonghi toaster - and I'm not disappointed. My only slight issue is with the toasting level - without turning the dial at all past zero, I find that to be a sufficient level for bread. I used the toaster still set to less than 1 for bagels and can't imagine what the level 6 would ever be used for. Other than that, it's a great looking and fast toaster. Love the click-in crumb trays in the front - it's easy to clean them out. Also a great value for the money.

The first toaster we received that had five obviously scratches, so we requested to have a replacement. However, when we received the second replacement, there was still two big scratches on the toaster. Now we are going to request to have another replacement again. We just not sure if they have do the quality check before the item was sent. It is the worst quality we have ever seen.

I really wanted to like this. Love the styling. Love the features. But, ultimately, it's a toaster. And it doesn't do well at that basic function. Doesn't toast both sides evenly, not consistent between toasts. If I look in the well when it's on, I can plainly see the problem. Unequal heated elements. Such a simple and basic first step. Equal number of elements, all on, equals perfect toast. And as some others mentioned, it's turned WAY down, otherwise black toast.

I need to amend this review. This toaster is even more disappointing than I originally thought. Putting the dial up to 6(the highest) pre packaged sliced white bread comes out toasted lightly on one side other breads are warmed and not toasted. I would never recommend this toaster to anyone. DO NOT BUY!! original review: This toaster was a replacement for one from much simpler times that finally gave up. I am very happy with the features (haven't tried the bagel feature yet). Its rather big and bulky, takes up a bit more space than our old one. Toasting is sometimes uneven and one time a slice of bread, not exceptionally thin, got stuck below the part that should hold it up... what a mess... but it generally does its job, just not as well as I expected from DeLonghi

Toaster works well. But the toaster arrived with small dents and scratches so I suspect it was a used/returned toaster. However, I returned the toaster (my first return with Amazon) and it was surprisingly easy and they quickly shipped me a new one in perfect condition. So despite this negative review initially it has turned out to be a positive for Amazon as I was surprised how easy it was to return items. (They supply a UPS slip for return and UPS picks it up or you can drop it off) SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE USING AMAZON..... will update this review if I have any problems with this new toaster. I say if you like the look of this toaster, take a chance, it's easy to return items using Amazon (much to my surprise) UPDATE.....changed my rating to five stars. No complaints with this toaster, I've used it constantly for six months. (apparently I got lucky since it seems quality control on pretty much all toasters is lacking based on other reviews I've read.)

After reading a bunch of reviews from a variety of different toasters, we decided on this one. We are very pleased with it thus far. It is bigger than the other 4-slice toasters we looked at, but seems to be better made. The only negative thing I can say is that at the lowest setting the toast is what we consider to be perfect. It would be nice to have a little lower setting. Maybe the reheat setting would be what to use instead if you need it less. Regardless, it makes great toast (and pop-tarts).

You can gripe, about features but for the price this is the best toaster you can get. Nice finish with easy clean out trays. My only complaint is it doesn't seem to have enough time on the timer to properly toast bagels, also you have to make your bagels facing outwards which is a but counterintuitive.
