Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman Vol. 2: The Paper

There was a reason, back in 2000 and beyond, that Ultimate Spider-Man was the best selling title in the Ultimate universe. This new version keeps up with that brilliant Ultimate universe storytelling. Hickman has done a brilliant job here.

Stopped buying comics a long time ago although there have been independent comics outside the usual DC and Marvel comics. Saw reviews of the ultimate spider man comics, so thought I'd try them and do far really enjoying them. Spider-Man was my favourite as kid and imo Ultimate Spidey is a great unique take.

I buy this series and a couple of others for my eldest son, for me it's a pleasure to watch as he devours the books.

Story continued to be great, art was patchy for the substitution artist.

I wanted to rate this book 4.5 stars. I love the character development and the family dynamic, and the only reason I would consider taking half a star off is because I think the book needs a lot more of Peter/Spider-Man in it. I am all for developing and establishing the side characters and cast but a bit more attention to the main character would be great or greater. The Paper has been established thanks to stories about Spider-Man and the Goblin. However, Ban and JJJ want to break the real conspiracy but are they ready for what and who they discover? Despite not having a huge role in the book there are some developments for Peter/Spider-Man. He is actually learning how to fight. Using and trusting his powers. The new suit is a perfect example of this. I am also very glad that hw has the correct place on the list. I love the story, the artwork but I would just like a bit more action in the book. Luckily from what I have seen in the epilogue that is promised in the next volume. The book finishes with a thumbnail variant cover gallery.

Great continuation of previous volume by Jonathan Hickman and maintains same quality in writing and artwork. However, if buying for what is on the cover, know you may be disappointed. Still certainly more interesting than what is happening in the mainline Spider-Man comics currently. Great diving into further into this world so different from the main universe.

And it's amazing. Finally a great story like for Peter. Want the next one now.. I will need to wait for a while thou Enjoy it

Was amazing, the story is progressing well and I’m loving the character development especially the moments when you see the difference in harry vs Peter moral codes and the art was stand out. Delivery was fast and came in good condition

Hickman does what he does best - take his time and make you feel the payoff. Vol 2 is a slow burn, but the deliberate kind. The Sinister Six introduction is fresh and inventive, with each villain feeling distinct and purposeful. By the end, it's clear Hickman has something much bigger planned, and the final pages left me genuinely excited for what's next. Highly recommended.
