UGREEN 10Gbps USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Galaxy

DESIGN A tiny, compact and robust thumb-sized, direct-insertion keychain variant made from a solid block of aluminium that adds almost no excess weight and bulk to the end of a cable. It’s genuinely portable. With the inclusion of a mini-lanyard, it’s designed specifically to be carried around on a keyring so you always have a USB-C converter with you. Attaching the little lanyard to this tiny device is a hellishly fiddly performance that some will abandon in frustration, but I would encourage you to persevere, attach it to your keyring or just carry it with you. It may rescue you one day and you’ll thank yourself for bothering. CONVERTING USB-A TO USB-C IS NOT EASY Converting USB-A to USB-C isn't as simple as it looks. With cheap, passive adapters, if you plug the USB-C cable in the 'wrong way round,' your data speeds will plummet to USB 2.0 (480Mbps). To get the advertised high speeds, you have to perform a 180-degree flip of the cable. The reason this UGREEN adapter is brilliant is that it’s 'active.' It contains a microscopic microprocessor (the Via Labs VL160 MUX chip) that detects the cable orientation for you. You get full 5Gbps or 10Gbps speeds every single time, no matter how you plug it in. DATA TRANSFER SPEED TESTING I test very simply in the same way that most of us would: I drag a big file onto my desktop and watch the speed number. While the product description confusingly references both the 5Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1) standard and '10Gbps Superfast Data Transfer,' my tests confirm the 10Gbps claims. During real-world file transfers, I consistently saw throughputs around 900MB/s (about 7.2Gbps). It genuinely hits the physical ceiling for real-world 10Gbps data throughput after accounting for protocol overhead, so you are absolutely getting the speeds promised. POWER HANDLING The most common use for this adapter will probably be for charging and to gain access to USB-A chargers. Charging is diverse, so the UGREEN 50533PA is legacy flexible, meaning it does its best to accommodate older chargers. It safely handles standard legacy fast-charging (up to 18W) like Qualcomm Quick Charge and Samsung AFC thanks to a built-in 56kΩ pull-up resistor. However, it cannot negotiate the 20V steps required for standard laptop charging (45W+ USB-PD), so don't expect it to power your MacBook. At the time of writing, this little device was less than £10 and represents supreme value for money when considering the technology it houses, its lovely design and the sheer effort that’s gone into ensuring that this is a versatile, worry-free and safe little device you can carry with you everywhere.

A little disappointed with these as they can not cope with HDMI over USB but seem to work well for data and power. I surprised it can't do HDMI over USB cause this company is usually very good and usually makes everything perfectly to specification

Absolute must have for our travel bags. Super useful to connect our newer USB-C wires to any adapters and outlets while abroad or at friends. They have lasted us over 2 years at this point and worked flawlessly. Great value for what you get.

The product is good, does what it says! quality and build is good! connectivity is good too! small size, light weight! but with the same price and same quality! I got a pack of 6 with all transfer combinations! So I would not say it is value for money! it's expensive probably due to brand name!

Ho comprato un nuovo iPad Pro senza pensare che il cavo in dotazione avesse due uscite uguali usb-c e mi sono quindi ritrovato nella condizione di non poterlo collegare e sincronizzare con il Mac di una generazione precedente che ha solo porte usb “normali”: ho cercato velocemente un adattatore che risolvesse il problema e ho provato a comprare questo perchè non avevo voglia di spendere altri soldi e ho sperato quindi funzionasse senza avere troppe aspettative. INVECE il prodotto è perfetto: non ho avuto alcun problema nel collegare i due dispositivi e quindi ha svolto perfettamente il compito per cui lo avevo comprato. L’oggetto inoltre è piccolo e leggero ed il lacciò è veramente comodo perché permette di legarlo a qualcosa di più grande ed evitare quindi di perderlo. Davvero consigliatissimo: ottimo prezzo e perfettamente funzionante.
