Best Way to Upgrade An Older Mac Pro at a Value Price
Nemix offers the best value for Mac Pro RAM you can find. If you are like me, and you have an 8-core 2008 Pro sitting in your office that you absolutely refuse to replace, upgrading the RAM is one of the best ways to continue to get great performance out of it, and Nemix offers the best deal I've found. When the RAM has arrived, it's been in solid packaging, fits effortlessly into the slots in my Pro, and works flawlessly. Plus it's assembled in the USA (although I'm sure not entirely of American components), which is nice.

2008 Intel Mac Pro Memory Install
I installed an additional 8GB (4x2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz FB-DIMM) of memory in a 2008 Intel Mac Pro tower computer about three months. It has performed as expected. I've seen an increased responsiveness to the computer. But I can't say that it has been a huge difference. The intent of my original purchase was to take the system from 2GB (2x1GB sticks) to 10GB by installing an additional 8GB (4x2GB sticks). And later get more memory so that my system would have a total of 16GB. Upon getting the first 8GB of memory to add to the 2GB I already had, I ran into a problem of not getting all of the memory to show. I tried different configurations, but never hit upon a combination that showed the both the 2GB (2x1GB) and rest of the 8GB (4x2GB) memory. Eventually I bought another 8GB memory (4 more 2GB sticks) and removed the original 2GB. Once that was done, all the memory showed. The computer booted fine as I tried the various combinations with the 2x1GB and 4x2GB memory. I was just never able to find a combination with first setup to show all sticks for a total of 10GB.

Didn't work
I was excited to get this inexpensive RAM whose specs are identical to that installed in my Mac Pro 3.1. But my Mac would not recognize the additional memory even though installed exactly per Apple instructions. It could "see" the original memory but not this new memory. I tried other configurations but still no go. As a final test, I took out the original memory and installed this new memory in the same location on the cards. The Mac would not start at all! When I put the original memory back, it started fine. So, these modules were clearly defective. If these had worked, I was ready to order four more. What a disappointment! So, I have now ordered the much more expensive Mac RAM Direct modulesĀ Mac RAM Direct HyperVelocity 16GB (4x 4GB) DDR2-800 FB-DIMM 800MHz RAM Memory Kit .

Perfect fit
It's a too-late upgrade for my early-2008 Mac Pro.Perfect fit and function. Nothing much to add. Perhaps a bit pricy because this is obsolete.

RAM was DOA. Tried it in every slot and in 2 different Mac Pros (both 3,1). Never was recognized in any slot on either computer, and yes I put them in slots that had working RAM. I was not offered to exchange it, so returned it with full refund.
