Review: you will absolutely not be disappointed by the FinePix X100 - Whether you're an avid photographer, or just want a camera to capture holiday snaps and important moments, you will absolutely not be disappointed by the FinePix X100. Designed to look and feel like an old Rangefinder camera, the technology packed into the device is absolutely incredible. Some people may find the lack of zoom a little daunting at first (and will lead you to learn the best lesson in photography - the best zoom is your two legs and feet), it allows the prime lens to exhibit some of the widest aperture and best optical response of any point and shoot camera on the market today. The build quality is absolutely stunning - a solid, clunky metal aperture dial and shutter speed knob really helps you feel like you're "making a difference" - and the results on the images are utterly astounding. Even if you keep the camera fully in "Automatic" mode, I've never come across a device that has so successfully got exposure so perfectly right every single time. Low light performance is out of this world, and the soft, gorgeous bokeh you can find from knocking the aperture wide open is just unbelievable. This review might sound like I'm taking things to excess, but once you start using the camera, you'll find it very hard to disagree. To sum it up - ordinarily, when friends say "That's a great photo, your camera must be brilliant", it normally sets me off on a rampage of explaining how "The camera doesn't matter". However, when they say this about the shots from the X100, I can't help but agree. Buy it now, and you absolutely won't be disappointed.
Review: In love again!!! - After researching,researching and yet more researching i dropped on this fabulous camera due to a 'sunday night price drop' on desertcart for the great price of £650 and now a few months later i'm totally obsessed with it! Like most people I was looking for a lightweight SLR alternative (my main camera is a Nikon D300S)and could not ignore the image samples this camera was throwing up,in particular the wonderful portraiture by Damien Lovegrove and the love it/loathe it nature of the reviews. This camera has re-affirmed my love for photography,i love its quirks and the endless debate about performance but you cannot deny it looks amazing (like a 'real' camera) and produces impressive images i have yet to match with my favourite D300s/80-200mm f2.8 combo. I also own a Lumix GX1 which,although impressive (with the 14mm lens),cannot match the beautiful quality of the exposures the X100 produces nor the grin it puts on your face. Yes it's sometimes sluggish with autofocus but when it locks on,boy does it get it right! I was hugely sceptical about purchasing one but i'm glad i did and as testimony i am due a break in Rhodes in June and this will be my camera of choice to take along,its discreet appearance and superb low-light performance being the main factors behind the sublime image quality. I'm even tempted to get the Fuji X-E1 and 35mm f1.4 combo after a good hands-on look at Focus On Imaging earlier this month,really impressive. Get one! (N.B i have recently purchased an Artisan & Artist retro cloth strap and soft shutter-release button for my little baby and my girlfriend now calls me 'Camera Whore')

Whether you're an avid photographer, or just want a camera to capture holiday snaps and important moments, you will absolutely not be disappointed by the FinePix X100. Designed to look and feel like an old Rangefinder camera, the technology packed into the device is absolutely incredible. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A quirky but brilliant second shooter.

I suspect that, like me, many photographers will buy the X100 as their second shooter or off-duty camera. For me, it's an off-duty shooter for when I'm not doing my day job as a photojournalist on a newspaper in northern England. I've had it for a couple of months now and am really beginning to understand the way it works. It's got its quirks and one or two things about it will drive you up the wall. It's certainly not a camera for the beginner but, for the experienced snapper, it's a joy. There's all the manual control you could expect from what is basically a high-end compact, and the image quality is great. If you can afford the jump in price from the black and chrome camera only option you'll find it's money well spent. For a start, it's beautiful in the black and the quality of the accessories that come with the limited edition kit is fantastic. I bought my X100 because I like to shoot on my day off but wanted a camera that would slow me down and take me back to my roots of being too broke to have lens options and carefully composing and metering each shot for fear of wasting film. I'm so taken with the X100 that I've set up a blog in its honour, where in addition to posting pictures from the camera, I'm conducting an ongoing, real-world review of the camera.
