AMAZING FOR GIANT BREED DOGS!!
THIS COLLAR HAS CHANGED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY DOG FOR THE BETTER! I have a stubborn 1 year old in tact male Great Dane who’s had a tough time with his recall in high distraction settings. Before purchasing this collar, I went down a rabbit hole trying to find the best collar for a giant breed dog. This one consistently came out on top. After having the collar for about a month I have to agree that it is 100% worth the money. This collar (Dogtra 1900x) has been amazing for nipping the times he wants to ignore me right in the butt. Against my better judgement, I tried some of the cheaper E-collars you can buy off of Amazon, and they didn’t phase my dog at all. And I mean AT ALL!! This collar has 127 levels and my Dane consistently works at somewhere between a 20-25. There was one instance where he wasn’t recalling, and I slowly worked the collar up to about a 50. Let’s just say he hasn’t ignored me since. I can’t imagine what the stim would be like at a higher level than that. Learn from my mistakes and just buy the nice collar from the start. I know it sucks that it’s expensive, but trust me it’s been worth it. This collar has made communication with my dog clear, and has allowed my dog more freedom than ever. Pros: -The receiver on the collar is large which is great for large/giant breed dogs. -The “continuous” setting on the remote has been amazing for clear communication with my dog and his recall. -I love that there is a “boost” function so you can consistently work at a lower level “stim” but the option is there if you need it. -You can make fine adjustments with the levels and really dial in your dogs working settings. -The battery life on this thing is amazing! I maybe use the collar twice a day 30-45 minutes at a time, and after about two weeks was when I could tell it needed to be charged. -I haven’t needed to change out the prongs on the receiver, but I like that Dogtra has a few different prong options if your dog is allergic to the metal or has a longer coat. -The range on the collar is amazing, and is true to what they say the range is. Cons: -I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this collar. I’ve seen some people complain that the “beep” isn’t all that loud, but forget the beep is meant for their dog and not for them. The beep isn’t necessarily meant to be a function that should be used to try locating your dog. If you’re struggling with your stubborn dogs recall, or honestly anything else that can trained with an E-collar do yourself a favor and splurge on this collar!

It packs a punch
After buying the cheap collars that did absolutely nothing on my giant escape artist of a dog (she wouldn’t even feel it at max power) I bought this collar. Yes it’s expensive but it works. So first of all the range is amazing. I live in the middle of the woods and even with my dog running full speed through the woods 200yards away it works. Then the vibrate is really powerful. The shock setting, be very careful. For stubborn dogs anything less than 50 won’t do much at all. But The max shock setting is very powerful, which sometimes is what is needed on stubborn 130lbs dogs. But still, I felt bad when I used it. The good news is it stops my dog dead in her tracks. And she runs back to the house at the speed of light. It’s not something she can just ignore. The collar is also very well made and very easy to put on and off. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase. Should have bought it long ago. Well worth the money.

best training collar I've had.
I love this training collar. Works great and if used properly you can really train your dog. Batteries last a very long time. Very well built. Built with metal and not plastic. Vibration is strong and buttons feel positive. Very nice collar.

This has been a game changer
This training collar works PERFECTLY. We have a 92lb puppy and we needed control. We asked a dog trainer for assistance just to make sure we set it up and initiated our training properly and it has been great. Our dog has learned very very quickly and now he is a dream off leash.

Wish I Didn't Have to Report This...
This review is for my 2nd 1900X bought here on Amazon. I returned the first one for a replacement because it double-tapped on the "nick" setting. On "nick," when you push the stim button you should feel only a single, quick stim; but BOTH 1900X collars gave TWO quick stims at least once every 20 nicks, and the 2nd collar randomly BOOSTED the correction at least 10 levels higher than it was set for! Ouch. (I was nowhere near the Boost button, but this explained why my pup was occasionally jumping on single-digit corrections.) I love the thunky stim the collar provides, and its vibration feature is startlingly strong, so I regret giving only one star, but here is why I made the decision to do so: In order to protect other dogs from having the same confusing experience as my dog did, rather than simply returning the 2nd collar to Amazon, I sent it directly to Dogtra for warranty repair. When I called to tell them I'd received TWO collars with the same problem and asked if they'd gotten many complaints about the issue, they said "none whatsoever," and insisted they would've heard about it by now. After they received the collar I was told the high voltage circuit had to be replaced, so they did find something wrong. But I got it back last night and IT STILL DOUBLE-TAPS. So this unit is going back to Amazon, just like the 1st one, with writing on the box that says it is defective so that it will be returned to Dogtra and not resold as-is. Honestly, I expected more from Dogtra. I still use two collars of theirs that are over 10 years old. I was just interested in the new features on this one. If you do buy a 1900X, test the collar on yourself at a level you can feel, using the "nick" setting (not the "continuous" setting). Press the stim button every second or two (count "one-Mississippi" each nick) at least 20 times in a row. Both of my collars malfunctioned within the first 20 nicks and within each 20 nicks thereafter. I tested the collars on my forearm and on the side of my neck, (which Dogtra strongly objects to), at levels 15 and 20. BOTH collars had the double-tap problem. The "boost" effect was more random and I only felt it once while testing the 2nd collar. Wondering if I might be mishandling the button, I had someone totally unfamiliar with e-collars test the 2nd one on his forearm, controlling the unit himself. "Oh yeah," he said, within about 10 nicks. So this is not just me. Again, I regret writing such a strong negative review about a product made by a company I respect, but Dogtra needs to accept that there may be a problem with more than a couple of these collars. I cannot believe the unit they returned to me as "repaired" was tested on a human being. It should have been because I wrote this down and my description was still attached to the transmitter when I got it back. Electric collars are tricky enough to introduce to dogs. Collars that don't give the corrections they advertise shouldn't be sold. Period. Please fix this.

Great! ...except for the belt clip.
I upgraded to the 1900X in the fall of 2024 as I was excited about the new light, tone, and boost features. I previously was running the 1900 and was very impressed with the ruggedness and ease of use, particularly the rheostat for setting and adjusting the stimulation level quickly. My favorite feature of the 1900 and 1900x is the durability and waterproofness, I NEVER have to worry about taking the collar off be fore my pup gets into the water or mud. I like the 1900X a lot! My pup is very well behaved as he is also my service dog but since he is a strong dog (pit mix) I find it very useful to also have the boost option as a strong 'NO'. I also like that the large front button can be switched between 'Nick' and 'Constant', but Dogtra should have also included an option for 'Page' for those of us who primarily use that mode of stimulation. I use the 'Page' function as a 'Come' command for my dog so I have a quiet was to recall him. A small thing but something that could easily be improved upon. The receiver is similar to the previous model but now has an aluminum shell for protection, I like it and it looks good. The contacts thread into the unit meaning that they can be completely removed if undesired. Unfortunately, the on/off button for the receiver is in-between the contact tips, making the comfort pad incompatible with this model version. The receiver and transmitter both charge via usb-c which is a very welcome improvement. Now it is convenient to charge either unit almost anywhere instead of needing a dedicated DC power supply. I experienced no issues with the range of the unit. I also very much appreciated the lock feature for securing a stimulation setting. It was nice to know that the level wouldn't change if the knob got bumped. The reason I must take a star off is due to the belt clip that comes with the unit. I was disappointed to see a cheap plastic belt clip instead of the nice metal one on the 1900. It has been a constant struggle to keep the transmitter on my person as my pup and I move through the woods. The transmitter has fallen off multiple times and I've cumulatively spent several hours looking for it. This May, 2025, I lost it for the last time. I looked for hours once again but did not find it. That being said, I've already ordered another transmitter (and receiver for back up) as it is my favorite E-collar!

Reliable and Powerful Upgrade for Stubborn Dogs
I've been using the Dogtra 1900x for a couple weeks now and, overall, I'm impressed. It’s a significant upgrade from my previous PetSafe model and has really allowed me to fine-tune my dog’s training with much lower stimulation levels, which wasn’t possible with PetSafe, where I was always at 100% power so it might tingle him. Pros: Excellent remote – very user-friendly and functional. Powerful – this collar can handle even the most stubborn dogs, which makes it reliable for when my dog is full of adrenaline or drive. Great battery life – battery lasts long on both the remote and collar, so I’m not constantly recharging it. USB-C charging is a huge plus. Minor Cons: LED light – the LED only flashes instead of staying on constantly, which would be more helpful for visibility during night sessions in the park or field. Contact points – the standard contact points caused some pink spots on my dog’s neck, but switching to titanium points solved the issue. It’s a must if you’re concerned about skin sensitivity. Weight: Both the remote and collar are a bit heavy, but it does give it a more premium feel. In summary, the Dogtra 1900x has been reliable so far and is a far better choice than my PetSafe e-collar.

Worth every dollar
Have a have Doberman/great Pyrenees/everything else mix, so 85 lbs but long fur and he’s very smart, but also clever. He KNOWS the commands, he KNOWS right from wrong, but he also knows when he’s outside of our ability to control him and will test that boundary all the time. If he digs, then he knows he could just run away and it’d be a game to catch him. If he got on the couch he would look at us as we would tell him to get off until we stood up from the other couch to get him and then he’d get off. That type of thing, plus jumping on people, acting out, just totally uncontrollable off a leash. We tried the cheap ones on Amazon and even turned up to 100 and using the 110% button it would still barely affect him. If he notched it at all it must’ve been a tickle cause he didn’t care at all. Was finally told directly by a dog trainer “people buy the cheap $50 ones on Amazon and then complain they don’t work, you can’t do that for a big dog” and so I spent some points I saved up on this and within a day he knew he was no longer in control. We have it set to 35 which is enough to give him a zap to get his attention without really hurting him, and we trained him to know that the Tone is a warning before the zap, if he were to keep acting out then he gets the zap but almost immediately he picked up on that and just a tone is enough to get him to stop. It’s been about 2 months now and he’s incredibly better behaved and every one that sees him points it out so fast. Can’t recommend enough
