Wellden Product Anatomical Human Skeleton Model, 1/2 Life Size, 85cm/33.5"

I intended to buy a human skeleton model for anatomical study but was put off by the cost of a life-size, quality human skeleton model which would cost you about $200 or more. I looked into less costly options as I don't have that much money to spend on a model -- and this was just what I wanted. I did want a life size model, but after getting this 1/2 life size model, I was surprised by just how accurate the details were. This model's smaller size was not at the expense of its anatomical accuracy. The small size also made the model very portable and versatile to get a very close view of the bones and their contour. Advice: For basic anatomical study, say for a college/high school anatomy and physiology course, then I would recommend this model due its detail. The smaller size may make the finer bones harder to see than a life-size model, however. Because of this, if your goal is to become a doctor, therapist, or an occupation that must work closely with bones, then I would say go for the life-size model if you can afford it. For beginners of anatomical study then I would say that this skeleton would be the best bet for you: the price and the quality is right. Additional notes: Model is overall sturdy and easy to put together. Model does not awkwardly lean forward or wobble on the stand. Stand is sturdy and looks good; the model can move 360 degrees easily on the stand. The floating ribs on the model may be FRAGILE: one set of the floating ribs have broken off upon arrival but were easy to glue back on with gorilla glue ... the other set of floating ribs were very sturdy so this may have just been an issue in delivery/packaging.

I purchased this for my Anatomy and Physiology class and I think it's great. You can remove the skull and the skull cap, allowing you to view the inside of the skull. For a smaller model, the detail is pretty awesome. It's well worth the price and I have already suggested it to several of my classmates. NOTES: . The jaw is held shut with a spring. You can open it very slightly. I'm sure you can remove the spring but I haven't done this myself. . You can move the arms and legs. They are held on by an adjustable elastic band which you can adjust to make the limbs more loose. You can loosen the screw on the inside of the skull to make the head more movable. . The fingers and toes do not move, but they leave enough space between them for you to get a good look at them. . Parts of the neck vertebrae can be removed once you remove the head, so be careful when removing the head and leaving it standing unattended to avoid losing any of the vertebrae pieces.

Update: have had for nearly a year, despite the nitpicky anatomical flaws it's extremely useful in visualizing transmission of forces and relation of bony structures. I love it! Background: Doctorate of Physical Therapy student. Dissected human cadavers, had to palpate a fair number of muscles on people, learned to identify bones by feeling them blind. Would work great up to lower division undergrad anatomy - past that, you'll be sacrificing certain things. The good: Detail is leaps and bounds better than anything you can get in a regular store. Skull is fully removable. Stretching the jaw spring can help visualize the fairly detailed sinuses inferiorly. The prominent palpable landmarks are basically all there. Looking for things like the gluteal lines and some of the smaller tuberocities require you to know exactly where and what to look for, but even on anything shot of medical-grade full-size models those are usually hard to identify. Decently portable. Fits in a small locker, but I'd worry about putting it in a backpack without breaking. It goes back in the styrofoam (after removing the legs) if I'm moving it any appreciable distance - which will take up basically all of a backpack (and stick out) or require you to carry it. The eh: Basically every non-major joint is somehow fused. Fibula to tibia, all the hand/foot bones, effectively all the vertebrae (wired together). If you want something to practice identifying individual bones, this isn't it unless you carefully and permanently destroy parts of the skeleton (and even then, you're not going to get a good tarsal or any of the (anatomically) fused bones). The yellow plasticy nerves aren't helpful or easily removable. Would've been tickled if they could've formed the various plexuses, but they just end up covering things. To remove them would require unwiring the vertebrae/ribs, removing each vertebrae and disc, then reassembling the whole thing. Can't be cut or pulled out unless you have a blade measured in millimeters. Comes with a chart that kinda lists bones and some muscles randomly. Didn't strike me as a good reference. I threw mine away. The bad: Some joints are just plain wrong. The knee is a pinned pivot so any kind of translation is out. The costovertebral articulations aren't even close. The scapula's fixed with three screws; hacking it to articulate anywhere near correctly would be a challenge. The wrist is especially heinous - I challenge anyone who hasn't learned how many wristbones humans have to look at this model's wrist and tell me how many bones there are. Not even identify shapes or positions - just figure out how many separate bones there are. For the price, and for getting a general sense of where things are - this is great, especially if you have enough of an imagination to visualize muscle attachments and fibers so you don't have to dedicate a decent chunk of change and space for a med-grade skeleton. It's also excellent for getting a basic understanding of, say, how a plantarflexed landing can lead to a PCL tear. If you want to get intimate with the smaller bones or features - you might have to bite the bullet and get a full-sized skelefriend.

I’ve been using the Wellden Anatomical Human Skeleton Model for four years in a row for my yoga teacher trainings, and it has been an indispensable tool. The model is durable and still in excellent condition after years of use, which speaks to its high-quality craftsmanship. This is amazing! There’s so much detail and it really is a bargain. It’s light and small enough to be easily moved, yet large enough to study effectively. The arms and legs are fully mobile and they are detachable. The skull is also fully detachable. It’ll definitely help for studying A&P! The only thing is that it leans a tiny bit to the right and isn’t straight but that’s totally okay. 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a good study tool!

Exactly as described. Anyone who says otherwise didn't really read. The size is just as expected. The quality is more than expected. The bones are not flimsy plastic and have a great authentic look and texture. I was hoping the legs were flexible enough at the joints for a seated lotus pose, and they are (pic). The only thing to be aware of is there are no directions and you have to attach the legs and assemble the base. TIP: squeeze the little tube shaped locking device (pic) to adjust the position on the elastic piece which slides through the hole in the hip bone. It's easy to make the legs tight or loose as desired. One more plus is there is a nice skeletal System chart included.

I purchased this to use for drawing references and to spark new strange ideas in my art. After reading other reviews and looking at other similar products I settled on this skeleton, and after receiving it, I know I made the right choice. The details in the bones are phenomenal and the overall look is very lifelike. Other skeletons I was looking at seemed very smooth in texture and looked more cartoony. It's not really posable, but I can work around that. Very happy to have "Jonesy" hanging around my drawing room just waiting to inspire some fresh ideas. The perfect subject.

Bought this because I’m in school for x-ray tech and needed a skeleton that was smaller than life size but big enough to show bone detail. I will say, it’s very good quality and great for bony detail. However, I wish the stand was more sturdy (it sways when the skeleton is on it) and I wish the joints in the fingers, hands and feet were free to move around. So those 2 reasons is why it lost 2 stars. Other than that I think it’s a great skeleton for learning the bones.

I love my anatomical skeleton. Very well made. It has all the tiny specific details. Great learning model. The size is perfect if you don't want a full size one.

I have had this skeleton model since 2020. It is a very accurate representation of the human skeleton, especially with the precise landmarking of multiple bony fossae and grooves. I have used it throughout my entire kinesiology degree and now during medical school. As I approach my final year of medicine, the model is still intact with no damage, even after many years of handling it aggressively prior to anatomy exams. Could not recommend more.

I’m a student taking massage therapy, and I just have to say this skeleton is perfect!! It’s even more than it describes, (in the 2nd picture I took), it came with the photo I took of the skeleton chart, and for the price, this is wonderful! The bones are very detailed, easy to assemble, you can even dissemble the head, easily move the arms and legs, over all, just a great purchase!! I recommend! :) Side note… it doesn’t come with instructions to assemble but it’s not complicated. I tried showing where the loose pieces go in the photos I took!

As other reviewers have stated, this is small; but it was still smaller than I expected. That said, the detail is good, the arms and legs are poseable (but do not hold their shape) and the head has limited flexibility to turn or nod. While I am not able to testify on accuracy, it does seem close to what a real skeleton would look like if scaled down 70%. However, I’m not sure about some proportions. For example, the skull seems narrower than it should be. You are able to remove the skull, or arm or leg if you want to study it individually. For my purposes as an artistic study, it is a bit small for my needs, but I’ve decided to keep it because I can see it being useful. Overall good quality, and if you don’t need or have space for a large model, it is good value. Recommended but take a star of for size.

EDIT: great customer service. I was sent a replacement of the opposite leg, however they immediately sent me the correct side. Used for years during my schooling & have had no other issues. Skeleton anatomy is accurate. The skull doesn't sit straight but it's not a bother as it is anatomically true & great to learn from. As my skeleton was on the stand, i gently lifted the right tib/fib so it would bend at the knee to look at it. Without touching the foot & no pressure at all, the right foot just fell off. I have had this for less than one month. I am upset as the price does not reflect the quality.
