Drive Medical Deluxe Foldable Rollator Walker, Black and Red

I bought this rollator for a specific need, as a "companion" to the heavier 4 wheel rollator I use at home. I needed something lightweight, easy to fold and which would fit into the car. This 3 wheel rollator met all those needs perfectly. I can fold it with one hand and lift it into the back of the car myself, without any help. It was also very easy to assemble. With regards to the complaints about stability, here is my experience. 1. Extend the wheels *all the way* before you try to use it. They pull out and lock into place. 2. Don't try to use the rollator to pull yourself up from a chair. It's not meant to do that. Push yourself up to a standing position using the chair arms then reach for the rollator. (Didn't the rehab nurses teach us to do that anyway?) 3. Stability: Your own experience may vary, and caution is always needed when using mobility aids. I found this rollator to be stable in normal walking. In testing, I had to intentionally place my hands and elbows in a specific position in order to tilt the rollator back so the front wheel left the ground. It didn't raise up with normal walking, only after I moved my hands to the back of the grips and intentionally dropped my elbows was I able to get it to pull up. I also found I could tilt the rollator onto a left or right back wheel if I changed the position of my hands/elbows and deliberately tried to do so. It didn't tilt in normal walking. I have (so far) had a good experience with this rollator (no stability issues) and have happily used it in the mall and at a strip shopping center. Each person is different as to how they walk, but I had no stability issues when walking with this 3 wheeler.

I use a Hugo rollator with a seat and large wheels (which I love btw) when I am out and about, but it is way too large to use inside my rather small house. My physical therapist recommended I try a 3-wheeler at home to help me get around more comfortably than with my cane. After researching them here on Amazon I found this one to be the best overall value for me at the time I purchased it. There is some assembly required of course. When assembling it be sure to pull the legs out until they click into place. I think at least one reviewer might not have and found it to be quite tippy as a result. The wheels should not be directly under the handles but further out toward the user. With those legs fully extended and clicked into place I haven't found the least bit of a concern with stability. The pouch, basket and tray work just fine for me. I can stuff all sorts of things into the pouch and move them from one place to another - a water bottle, books, magazines or file folders, a sweater, a tissue box, scrapbooking supplies or maybe cans or jars from the pantry to the kitchen, whatever - anyway you get the idea. As far as the basket goes I fold down the back part of it between the tray and the pouch and have open and easy access to the things I stick in there, otherwise you lift the tray off to access the basket. The tray is wonderfully helpful for rolling a meal into the TV room. As most of you who use a cane can likely commiserate with, a cane can be really, really annoying to deal with. While my cane has its place in my independence collection, for me there is no comparison from using my cane at home to using this compact little 3-wheeler. It's convenient, compact, stable, helps me be more independent and there's far less stress and annoyance than using my cane. If you have one of those fold up canes as I do you can fold it up and stick it in the pouch to have it handy if you choose to. This 3-wheeler does fold, but since I only use it in the house I haven't done that as yet, so I'm not able to address that issue. Although it says it is flame red it is actually black with little highlights of red. I love mine.

At 78, I now suffer from a minor balance issue. The last thing I want to allow to happen at my age is to fall on a concrete walk or in a parking lot, and break a hip. Living in the Northeast means snow and dangerous ice every winter, too, but I sill need to visit my health center every other day or so, to stay in good shape. This makes those visits safe. At only 11 pounds, my Drive 3-wheel Rollator is my safety support! At the gym, I put my gloves, winter hat, scarf, and driving glasses and water bottle in the leatherette "kangaroo pouch" once I'm inside. No need to find a locker. (I don't need the optional metal shopping basket, but some might want it. You don't have to attach it.) I don't think of myself as "disabled," but I do like not worrying about gusty winds or blowing rain causing me to be unsteady as I dodge moving cars in a parking lot. I've had several people stop me to ask "How do you like that thing?" or "Where did you buy it? What did it cost?" One elderly gentleman at my health center even asked me to pause so he could take a picture of it! Oh, I haven't mentioned yet that standing up from the exercise machines can be a bit difficult for me at my advanced age. They don't always have something I can use to put my weight on with my arms when rising. The Rollator's brakes hold it in place for that purpose. When at the grocery store, my wife grabs a shopping cart for me to push. But for going outside anywhere else, Drive make the perfect, low-cost, light-weight yet strong insurance that I need to keep mobile. CONTRARY TO SOME OTHER REVIEWS, I FIND THIS UNIT VERY, VERY STABLE!! I have used it for a LONG time now, with NO complaints! I recommend it highly to you!

This is the 2nd Drive "Winnie" that I have bought in the past 16 years. The exact same color. Drive has changed the design slightly. It now has tabs, like a cane, on the rear bars the wheels are on that have to be pushed down upon and then fully extend the bar to stabilize the walker. If you don't do this then the walker is unable to balance. I prefer the original Drive Winnie that I saw the former First Lady Barbra Bush use on the field at an Astronauts Baseball game . I said I want one exactly like that. My family said, why you doesn't need a walker? I said well one day I will need one and they probably will not be available. So I looked online and there it was but it was over $130. So I waited a few years then got one. I used it for years just to help carry gym items and groceries for years before I needed it for added security while walking. This and other 3 wheel rollators are only good on flat smooth surfaces. They're not good in gravel or grass . If you are a toe walker or have mobility issues or live in an area with a lot of cracks or potholes in sidewalk or parking areas this Drive "Winnie" rotator really helps! The front wheel catches the crack or hole so you have a better chance of not falling than if you are holding a cane or even a person. It really came in handy after an accident and after foot surgery. I even attached the Winnie rollator wire basket to a knee scooter with zip ties after my surgery. When I got better we took it apart and put it in a large suitcase and it went on vacation with us. Sadly, months ago my original " Winnie " started having problems. The right rear wheel started locking up. It seems like a bearing issue inside the wheels. To save$ I bought a MaxKare from Wal-Mart . That was a mistake. As soon as the return period was over it broke! The Maxkare rollator front wheel assembly fell off when I lifted it up. As soon as I got home I bought this new version of my Drive Winnie. Drive has changed the design. I don't like it as much. The black bag is smaller than the original and it has a zipper closure that's not as useful than the original Velcro model. This new version arrived from the seller in 3 large pieces and the accessories. The rear wheels were already attached to their " rail pole extension bars". I put it together and it listed forward. I finally figured out that there's a metal tab button on each of the "rail pole extension bar" that the back wheels attached to. You have to push in the silver metal tab button, like on a walking cane. After you push down the silver metal tab button fully extend the bar then do the other side. Then the walker has a stable base. This is a nice light weight 3 wheel walker. It's easy to fold just move the handle bars towards the center . If you want to fold it for easy storage in the car or behind a chair at a restaurant you can't use the basket. If you're wanting to use the basket I suggest using zip ties to help secure it. I personally wish when Drive redesigned this 3wheel walker they had made all the poles "expandable" because it is very short. I am short and I still think that the walker is too short. I also wish Drive had left the storage bag alone. This new version is made out of a lighter flimsy material and I worry this bag doesn't have the structural integrity to handle 10 pounds. I've always thought that the basket and the basket tray are useless with this walker. However they work well with zip ties on a knee scooter. I wish instead of forcing the metal basket and tray on customers that Drive had given the option of either a water bottle holder or the basket. Great light weight 3 wheel walker if you fully extend the bars to the rear wheels and stick to smooth surfaces.

Drive Medical 3 Wheel Rollator, Flame Red If there was an option for Zero or a Negative number of Stars for a rating, I would use that. One star does not begin to convey my view of this contraption. The first order for this rollator arrived Late Dec. 2017 and when I was assembling the locking knobs, one side would not tighten, it just spun freely. After exchanging the first knob for the second one, same result. The tubing threads were obviously stripped. I advised Amazon Customer Service immediately and received a replacement via overnight shipment. I assembled this one without incident and have been using it as a supplement to my 4 wheel rollator by Drive that I use most of the day. The 3 wheel one was purchased because it was considerably lighter and easier for me to get in and out of the car. I am retired so I am not using this every day. I have, within the last two weeks, discovered much the same issues as I did with the very first 3-wheel rollator, which should be evidence enough of a defect in workmanship. I have attached pictures, but the really disturbing failure was that the two very large (3/4” head) bolts that attach the front wheel fork? to the frame and provide rigidity to the entire rollator had both worked loose, one had fallen out completely at an unknown place and time. Luckily the second one had worked itself out most of the way, so I was able to tighten it, how long that would last is unknown. The symptom that had me starting to look for something that was either stripped or loose was that changing directions using the handlebar, the whole rollator would lean over in that direction, completely ready to fall, causing me to NOT have balance , which is the main reason I need this device to begin with. And the same old issue of the threads in the tubing stripping out so that the locking knobs (2 on one side of the device; see pictures) spin uselessly. Drive Customer Service has not responded in any way (even though this is clearly a case that should be handled under the "Limited Lifetime Warranty", so even though Amazon has more than lived up to their liability at the beginning of this saga, I would hope that there is hope that their reputation is not gaining any customers because of this clearly inferior product and lack of support from Drive and step in accordingly. I really do NOT want another one of the 3 wheel rollators. If a credit is issued to me that would be redeemable on a 4-wheel rollator that would be light enough for me to put in and out of a car trunk, but provide the support that I need and also provide me with confidence that it would not fall apart while I am using it and doing me an injury, that would work. Otherwise a complete refund issued to me directly would suffice. Awaiting ANYbody's reply (but not holding my breath).

My Mother refused to use a walker in her home and didn't really want to use one outside of the home, either. I carried a rollator in my car but it was a hassle to get it in and out, so I didn't insist she use it when we were running errands. After a nasty fall I insisted she start using a walker both at home and out and about. A friend at church has a walker like this and Mom kept saying she would use one if she had one like this, so I purchased one for her. She started using it around the house - victory - however, it was cumbersome getting it in and out of the house, so I purchased another one to keep in my car and she uses a cane to get from house to car. Oh my goodness! It is so light and easy to fold up and put in the car and she loves using it. She never argues with me about using a walker when we are out. We donated the rollator to our church because I don't foresee ever using that type again. This was easy to set up. It's so easy to fold up and unfold, and easy to carry around. My Mom loves the red color. If I have one negative thing to say, it would be about the basket. I can't figure out how to make it secure on the handles, but she doesn't really need it anyway. This was a big win for me and I highly recommend this walker to anyone searching for a walking aid.

Just received my walker and had the same problem with it leaning backwards until I realized the bottom bars had to be extended... duh... Aso had a problem mounting the basket until I tightened the clips a little to make them smaller and they were able to snap in better... double duh... All in all, I'm very satisfied with its mobility; light enough for me to get in and out of the car and overall quality... Read the instructions and use your common sense a little more and you may be able to put it together properly for good results...

As many people have already posted, you MUST pull out the back legs fully and lock them in place before using, otherwise this walker is totally unstable. Apparently many people don't read instructions first, and that's what has caused a lot of misunderstandings about this walker. You can't just pull it out of the box and think it is ready to go. The manufacturer also has put a warning sticker on the walker itself that the legs must be fully telescoped/pulled out and locked before use. Having said that, I agree with others who have said that even more warnings need to be made, like a big red warning sign on the front of the instruction book. Older folks don't have the great eyesight they used to have and some don't have anyone to help them assemble this type of item, so I feel it should be even more fully shown in big red letters to pull out the back legs! Okay....now that I've gotten that out of the way..... Here's my list of pros and cons on this walker. Some may not apply to you or your situation, so always bear that in mind. I do recommend trying out a three wheel walker at a medical supply store before buying online. If you have never used one of these lighter three wheelers or only used a four wheeler like I have, you may need to "test drive" one to see if it's really what you need. Pros: Smaller than a four wheel and more compact for storage in the trunk of a small vehicle. Doesn't take up as much space which is very nice for people who don't have a car with a lot of storage area. You could even put it in the back seat of your car. It folds nice and flat. Nice to use in small spaces such as stores with narrow aisles, homes with narrow doors, etc. Good maneuverability. The included bag is roomy and can fit enough groceries for a quick shopping trip, or to carry things from room to room in your home. Cons: No seat. If you need a seat, do not get this walker. There is no seat. Stability issues with this walker. True, it is more or less stable with the legs secured, etc. BUT.....if you are used to a four wheel walker you are going to need to be careful with this three wheeler. I am petite and even at my small size/height, if I leaned my weight too far over on one side, it WILL lift off the ground somewhat and could tip. I do NOT have that problem with my four wheeler. I can't recall any time ever where I even felt unstable in the slightest using a four wheeler, but with this three wheeler, it's a different story. Need to pay attention to where you are going, or uneven surfaces, up and down sidewalk curbs, etc. I would not recommend this three wheeler if you are a larger or heavier person or if you need the walker for weight bearing. For light balance to help you get around it's okay, but I think it's iffy for heavier people who need it for weight bearing. I'm not saying 100% that it WOULD tip and throw you to the ground. Just saying it could happen. So, I'm not thrilled with that aspect of it. I am using mine as a back up for quick errands outdoors like quick shopping, post office , etc. But would not want to depend on it for more than that. Let's talk about the weight of this item. True, it is somewhat lighter than a typical four wheeler. But here's what I've had problems with: in using my four wheeler, when folding it up, I could grasp onto the straps to lift it in and out of my car. But with this three wheeler, I have no where to grip onto except the frame of the walker itself. I've found myself having to "heave" this walker into my car in a much more cumbersome way than I did with my four wheeler (if that makes sense. hopefully it does for those of you who have used four wheelers and know what I mean). I've been really unhappy with this element of the three wheeler, in a way I didn't expect to be. I was excited to have a "lighter" walker to put in and out of my car, only to discover that it didn't feel lighter when actually lifting it in and out, due to having nothing to hold on to. This is again why I recommend testing out one of these walkers at a medical place before buying. I should have taken my own advice! It's not a design flaw, although I wish there were some type of strap to hold on to in putting it up and down from the car. Maybe I'll invent one myself lol...again ,it all depends on your physical issues. If you have poor upper body strength or back issues, obviously ease of lifting is a big deal. Try not to be fooled by videos showing an elderly person doing it so easily. You, yourself, need to test it out in that situation for yourself. Another con: the basket included with the walker is very difficult to figure out or use. I still haven't figured out how to securely attach it. So, that may end up not being used which is too bad, as I would like to use it for shopping. Anyway, I guess that's about it. I'm keeping mine and hope I can safely make it work for the intended short errands in the car. However, I will be careful and try not to put too much sideways weight on it. I think it's probably a helpful device if you keep all of these ideas in mind.

this is a fantastic product! Love it! I hurt my knee and it helped me get better faster by taking the weight off when I walked to the kitchen . its small, maneuverable, easy to fold and carry anywhere. I am 120 pounds, great for me. might be less so, for a heavier person. However, read all of the reviews to get tips on proper assembly. there is a trick. If you are "popping a wheelie" you didn't finish the assembly properly. I let my 95 year old mom try it, but it wasn't suitable for her, so it isn't for everyone. it might be less useful for elderly people who need more stability or to sit down on bench seat like the older rollators have. also the braking systems of the larger, old style conventional rollator/walker are different and safer for elderly. This is perfect when you need a cane , but are frustrated by the slow pace, try this! it was my little ferari rollator.! it got me moving again sooner! very happy! They should lose the wire basket and tray! Utterly useless! don't even bother with it, as its an exercise in frustration. Instead, cut a triangular piece of cardboard etc (12 inches on each side, and cut the point off top at the 8 inch mark and you have a perfect hard base for bottom of the carry bag which allows you to carry beverages or a small plate or anything else without affecting the great functionality of it being foldable/portable and light. Excellent product!

I’m 5’4” lady works for me anyone talller might find it on the short side. It is sturdy but only after you extend bottom legs. I have arthritis in both hands but was able to set up on my own. I can lift it in and out of trunk on my own so I’d say it’s fairly light weight. I can’t lift my Full size rollator which weights 17 pounds so I was happy I could lift this one. I was out the door shopping immediately after putting it together and was able set it up and fold quickly, the basket is a bit fussy but likely once I’ve used it for a while I will get faster at taking it off and putting it back on. This was purchased solely for shopping and it works perfectly for that purpose.

This is not as described. An adult can't sit on this. There is no seat, no room. It has a zip storage back made of a plastic like very flimsy material. It was not assembled, I just opened to look at and felt the so called seat. I tried to get a refund and it says it is not refundable. This is ripping people off. I ordered this for my mother who is a senior in her 80's and this is not acceptable.

Love that it is so easy to get in and out of the trunk. The basket is a bit awkward though. Should have been designed better to put on and take off more easily. The three wheel design makes it very maneuverable but could be a bit tippy if leaning too much on one side. Would recommend a four wheel walker for folks who have to use one all the time. Overall, it suits my purposes and delivers on what I needed it for.

You might think that 3 wheels would mean less sturdy, less stable. Not true. This is great for using in a small house. It turns so easily and mom can get around so much better than with her 4 wheel walker. I highly recommend for anyone in a small apartment or home. It folds up easier than the 4 wheel walkers. One issue - I took the wire basket off. It doesn't stay in place very well and was not reliable as a tray for carrying things. The pouch is great for small items.
