Years back I had to relocate it to the west side of the house because the cable in the ground developed an open circuit in the common wire and the cable runs under the three car driveway and it would have been a nightmare to try and run a new one thru the attic. Unfortunately the landscaper doesn't always close the tightly and the wind will blow it open and the Arizona sun is unforgiving to LED screens and possibly the age added to its demise. That said, we had a Hunter controller at ou previous house and loved it. When the crappy one on this house became an issue I installed a Hunter like we had. This one is physically not as wide as the on it replaced but the programming is the same. The indoor controller is smaller and runs on an external transformer (included) that you would plug into a standard electrical outlet. This controller is the outdoor version of the X-Core controller; meaning that the transformer is internal (inside the gray panel at the bottom of the controller box), so as not to be exposed to weather. For safety the transformer must be hard wired to the power source; no plug-in. Additionally, this outdoor model, as you can view in the photo, has a locking cabinet to keep the controller protected from certain critters and weather. The indoor X-Core controller does not have a door or locking cabinet, as it is meant to be installed inside of a structure. I hope this is the information you were looking for! First lightning damage in my lifetime.
